Just got mine off about an hour ago!!! I had permanent retainers placed and had molds done for my essex. The really look strange (different) to me, kinda foreign. I had crooked teeth for so long, it doesn't seem like its real yet. I'm thrilled with the results!

Congrats John!!! :jump: :-*

That is great news! I get mine off in 10 days!!! I simply cannot wait! I will be even happier when I get a cleaning done 2 days after getting debraced!

I am not sure what it's gonna be like to smile for the first time without having crooked teeth or braces. Wow! What a feeling that must be! So,so happy for you!

Well as of tomorrow I'll officially have only 2 more days left in braces! Man the time has actually flown by! I am so excited for my retainer. Something about not have something glued on my teeth makes the wearing the retainer so much better. You'd better believe that I'll wear the retainer as instructed! I cannot wait to smile for the first time!

Well I get my braces off in the morning which makes today the last day I am in braces! It has not sunk in yet that I will be brace free as of tomorrow. The funny thing is that I am looking forward to my cleaning equally as much as I am looking forward to being debraced! Lol.

Wish me luck everyone. I am a nit nervous becaue I don't know how uncomfortable getting my braces off will be but I am sue it'll all be worth it. Last posting until d-day. Yay!

It’s official! I am braces free!!! My orthodontist also exceeded my expectations. I am in love with my new smile and I finally have the confidence I have always longed for! I am wearing a Hawley retainer which is going to take some time getting used to (though my speech has already improved after less than one day). The retainer feels bulky In my mouth but it does not look bulky at all. In fact when I smile you barely even notice it. It’s just a small silver wire that goes across the front of my teeth. A lot less noticeable than my old braces.

Getting my braces off wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. I took 2 Tylenol before I went in and at most, getting my braces off was uncomfortable. I wouldn’t describe the experience as painful at all. The brackets popped off pretty easily and what took the longest was polishing my teeth. I had a lot of coffee stains but my orthodontist took the time to polish them all away. I also have a cleaning tomorrow with my dentist. I am thrilled to death with my new smile. Braces were so worth it! I would not only highly recommend braces to those in need but I loved my orthodontist so much that I would highly recommend him as well. I was a transfer patient and he took me on made me have a beautiful smile! I could not be more grateful! It was a great experience!!!

I got my braces off on Valentine's Day after being braced for 20 months! I just wanted to register here and introduce myself. I've read posts on this board since the day I got my braces on, and this place has been a tremendous source of support for me even though I never posted myself. It seems like if I were going through something with my braces, there was always someone else that was too. Definitely got me past some trying moments, haha Anyway, I'm in my Hawley retainers now and finally getting used to the feel of them in my mouth. Still working on my "S" and "C" sounds, which sound completely lispy. Had to get past the gag reflex with them in, too. There was one tooth that was stuck out just a tiny bit from the others, but since I had had my original debracing date pushed back one month already, I didn't want to keep them on for any longer! They did some tweeking in the retainer and I'm crossing my fingers I didn't make a mistake with getting them removed too soon.
