Re: Inman aligners
hi smiletime.
really worried my treatment isnt going to work. and ive paid over £3000 for top and bottom braces. it wasnt expained to me how much the brace would affect my speech by my dentist. im only managing 16 hours a day in the week, somtimes a bit less. my bosses just arent happy for me to wear it in work, as im talking all day long. ive read on many sites, and on this forum that you need to be wearing it for at least 20 hours a day for it to work. i can manage that on my days off but just not in work. very worried i have wasted an awful lot of money! and ive chipped a tooth with the brace already. only had it 10 days!!

Hi everyone,
Glad to hear everyone's getting on ok. I'm gutted I didn't take before pictures may askmy dentist fora copy of the oneshe took then take more before each check up. I have my 4 week check-up on Saturday - can't believe how quickly it's going! Still not got much pain but I think I can see progress (really difficult to tell without pictures!!)
shopaholic - don't worry, I was advised to wear mine as much as possible but I don't see why it wouldn't work on 16 hours a day, it will just take longer which you expect anyway. Don't lose faith and don't fret, you will get there

Hi Shopaholic,
I am sorry to hear about your chipped tooth
I am sure your dentist will be able to mend that for you if you give him a quick call and let him know.
The speech really is a pain, but you do get better at it I am a lot more comfortable with mine now and I am sure you will improve
Personally, I think 16 hours a day is quite good, so no need to worry. Everyone is different and everyones teeth move at different speeds and times. You are still wearing it for the most of the day which is good.
I think anyone telling you otherwise is not to be worried about. I also work with the public and can't wear mine at work either. My teeth have moved already in 3 weeks. And at weekends I wear it full time.
Don't be disheartened Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to wear it to work.
Chin up. In a very short time you will have the smile you have always dreamed of

I have my first check up on Friday! I am so excited! I hope they do more filing as I feel my teeth will move a lot more once more space is created

Hi shopaholic, don't worry, although 16 hours per day seems to be the minimum that's recommended, it is still ok according to the IA website. Ok, of course it will take a good bit longer than if you were wearing it 22 hours per day, but it will still work. Have you spoken to your dentist about how much you are wearing it? Of course on weekends you can wear it more as well. I know it's hard but just give it time.
Also, which tooth did you chip, and how did that happen?
In terms of monitoring progress it really is quite hard. Photos are good but I would ideally like to have had the model of my teeth at home, somehow feeling the difference would be good too.

Hi everyone,
I just got my Inman Aligner fitted today :)
I've been reading through everyones posts, and everyone is really helpful!
Ive just got a question, does anyone know how much the retainer is after you've finished the Inman Aligner treatment time?
I only heard about them after reading these posts today, my dentist did not mention anything about this to me :S im a bit worried now, will they cost a lot?

Hi LivGrace,
How are you finding the inman? Hope you're getting on ok. I have the retainer part built in to my overall price, I'm getting a fixed wire behind the teeth and plastic moulds (that will look like invisalign I think) for the top and the bottom and I think it cost to about £800 for that bit. in my opinion it is worth the extra as I don't want to have paid all this money for them to move again(I had braces when I was younger so havehads straight teeth before).
hope that helps
four week check up Saturday... fingers crossed it goes well

Re: Inman aligners
Hi LivGrace, I think the retainer afterwards is usually built into the price. Mine certainly is anyway. I'm getting the wire retainer fitted to the back of my teeth and a normal one in case that should ever get knocked out or anything.
If you paid around £1500 (give or take a few hundred) per arch, then I think you'd expect the retainer to be included in that price. Best to check with your dentist though.
Good luck with the IA, let us know how you get on.

Hi!
Just been for my first 3 week check up and I am over the moon!
Dentist is delighted with my progress and can't believe how much my teeth have moved in 3 weeks! Hooray!
He done a small bit of filing (one tooth I could feel shaking at the root
How is everyone else getting along?
Re: Inman aligners
Hey everyone, Can,t believe how quickly my teeth have moved. Had my checkup today and basically have been told one more month should do it. Thats only two months. My dentist can,t believe it, he gave me five months to begin with. Got my moulds done today for a clear aligner which I have to wear for two weeks and wear the whitening solution at night. My teeth are really straight and I am so happy. After the clear aligner I will then get a fixed retainer in place as well as a temporary just in case. All this is included in the price (minus the whitening). So impressed with the inman aligner and highly recommend it. Just sorry I didnt do it earlier.

Hi Smiletime and Boomerang, sounds like you are both getting on well! How many hours a day are you guys wearing the aligner at the moment? I'm usually getting about 21 hours per day. I'm going for a check up on Monday, which will have been almost 6 weeks. I've definitely seen some good movement and would guess that I'm half way through the treatment by now.
Smiletime, did your dentist give you an idea of how long you have left to go?

Hi Guys!
Great to hear everyone is getting along so well
Its very motivating and encouraging after your check up isn't it? I was on cloud 9 all day yesterday
JackDaniels - I wear mine around 20/21 hours a day too. I tried to get a straight answer out of him about how much longer he thought I would be wearing it. He won't commit to a definitive answer, he just says if things keep moving the way they have in the last 3 weeks then it will be over in no time
I have one very stubborn tooth that may take a while to move more than all the others as it has to rotate a bit too. At the moment I am just very happy that things are moving
My only concern at the moment is he keeps talking about the bonded retainer afterwards and I would prefer the clear one. I don't think its included in the price if he keeps talking like that and am worried I have to pay more than the 1700 euros I already have

Re: Inman aligners
Hi everyone! Haven't been on here in ages!
Smiletime: I know, mine is the same as yours - it has plastic going all the way under the molars, whereas I've seen lots of pictures of aligners that only clip onto the sides. I don't know why it is!
Shopaholic - your aligner will work! 16 hours a day is enough, it'll just take a little longer. Give it time
Boomerang - amazing! Your treatment must be the quickest I've ever heard of!
As for me, my one stubborn rotated tooth is STILL not turning! Or if it is, I haven't seen any sign of it. I'm gong to my ortho on Monday so will update you all then (and post some photos)

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Dominie,
I asked my dentist yesterday why I had the plastic covering the teeth.
He said it was because if my bottom teeth made contact with the top ones it would hamper the treatment somehow.
