Hi everyone!

I'm new to this message board. I'll introduce myself. I'm a 19 year old female, from kentucky. I've had braces on my top teeth for perhaps 3 months. I get them on the bottom next month. My teeth were always awfully crooked, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of fixing them. I'm seeing big improvements already. But at the same time, I despise them. Whenever I'm around people who don't know me very well, I tend not to smile, at all, because of the braces. I just can't get comfortable with them. In fact, I feel like the all dreaded " Railroad track" mouth. Seeing others with braces is fine, I think they even look nice on some, but on myself, I dislike them. I'm sure I'll grow into them, but right now is just a very difficult adjustment period. Have any of you gone through this in your first few months in braces? Anyway, I'm so happy I found this board! It's nice to know there are many others out there who aren't just children with braces. I feel so much better! Anyway, Hi! I'm looking forward to my stay here=)

HI,
don't panic, braces are ok - when it not hurt. I was trying to hide them too, but only on the beginning. Now I got used to it, on the next adjustment I'll try to put on some colors in the brackets.
What I dislike in brackets are problems with eating and speaking, but it depends on the model.

Welcome SmileALittleMore. I think as your teeth straighten more, you will find yourself more confident in the braces. I know a many people here are very self concious of the curves that the arch wire takes when it is first put in. As your teeth straighten, the braces will probably look much better to you. Best wishes.
Had Damon 3 / Smart Clips for almost 2 years
Now in Hawley upper 10 hours/day, permanent lower retainers
