Hey guys,
I'm 29 and got surgery to expose my right impacted k9 last April. My first chain broke, and got surger in august for a second chain. Now this one just broke today feb.13 . I did notice that the chain moved signifcantly, but I don't feel the tooth yet. I just don't know what to do. I had braces when I was 16 and the orth moved my premolar in it's place, whichex caused the whole allignment of my mouth to be totally off. So I finally undid the whole mess, but this impacted eye tooth is a real pain in the butt! I don't want to have braces on for the next 3 years. Should I just do an implant? Or try 1 more surgery?? Has anyone had any sucess stories on broken chains?

Oh do I feel your pain lol. I went through 5 surgeries and finally the last one held and my canine is down and they are just tightening everything up. I felt the same way you do now. I opted to try one more time after the 4th one broke (I also went to a new oral surgeon) and figured if this one broke then I would go the implant route or get a flipper till I could afford an implant. I would talk with your oral surgeon about it. Mine suggested getting the tooth down was my best bet. Getting an implant would have been even more of a pain and really costly. If the tooth is moving then I would just keep trying. Best of luck to ya!

Hey there, thanks for your reply, I don't know what to do. I think I'm just gonna go the implant route. I can't stand to have 3 more surgeries. I just hope that an implant will look good. We ll see, I just hate having this gap in my mouth. And I really don't want to have it for another year. I feel so bad u had to go through all of this. I just don't think I can. Wish me luck...

I have an impacted k9 too! it's on the left side of my mouth. my orthodontist said "it has good angulation" thought! Right now I have a lateral incisor that is VERY missed placed which my orthodontist is trying to make space for. I've agreed to orthognathic surgery in 18mths to correct my cross bite and my bite in general and my oral surgeon said that the k9 can be removed at that time but that the void left by the tooth could be problematic. he is going to consult with my orthodontist as to what they should do (expose it and bring it down, or remove it entirely)
If you want, I have posted a blog of my journey where I've posted some pics of my journey thus far. here's the link , i have to use spaces because apparently this site won't allow me to post links! grrr! *shakes fist*
