Re: Braces - estimated times
My ortho said 28 months. I don't have any bite issues that I know of, but had a lot of overcrowding and had to have 4 teeth pulled. Hoping it will be quicker!

How long is treatment time when extractions are involved?
Re: Braces - estimated times
These times seem so short and make me jealous lol. My estimated time was 31 months. I'm in month 15 right now. I had some serious crossbite and crowding which is all nearly corrected, it's mainly bite work now.

Re: Braces - estimated times
I was told 12-15 months, but just found out today they'll be off at around the 8 month mark! I know a lot of people who have been to my ortho, though, and they all told me he tends to overestimate in the beginning. So I wasn't *too* surprised to learn I'll be getting them off early. I also had no extractions, and a pretty straightforward case, nothing very complicated.

@SilverGirl, Wow, that's super fast!!! Congrats to you.
@Vulcan, what's your ortho doing to fix the bite issues - is it just elastics?

Re: Braces - estimated times
I had lots of crowding, no major bite issues, 6 teeth extracted and at my initial consultation I was told they could be off as early as 18 months but could be up to 24 months max. I was told recently that as a result of my extractions my teeth have moved very easily/quickly so I will likely have them off this May/June which would make it about 18 Months!!!! I am very excited to have them off but sometimes get a little worried about them moving when theyre removed I'm freaking out now and becoming attached to the braces since I've read so many relapse stories I almost dont want to let them go! lol crazy i know

@tashay1985, That's awesome! I think you'll be OK as long as you wear your retainers At least that's what I've been hearing lately..
Re: Braces - estimated times
I was estimated at 24 months (2 years). I'm at the 2 year mark this month! Definitely not done. But hopefully by this summer!

Re: Braces - estimated times
I was given an 18 month estimate. I go today for my 18th month adjustment. I'm not optimistic that I will get a debanding date at my appointment today. My ortho should be a politician, he's so good at sidestepping an answer to my question of "How much longer?"
Also, my teeth moved extremely fast. I couldn't believe that they were all straight in such a short amount of time. It seemed like months that we weren't working on anything, and then months of fixing my bite. More recently we're fixing my midline, but at today's appointment I have no idea what's left to fix. But seeing how my ortho is a perfectionist (which is a good thing), I'm sure there is still something else to fix.

Re: Braces - estimated times
Some people's teeth move much faster than others. Mine, for example, are very slow. Also, it depends on what needs to be accomplished and sometimes the ortho can't predict which steps will present a challenge. My sentence was 2 years and at the rate it's going I'm estimating it'll be closer to 2 1/2 years. I'm hoping a little less though. At this point I'm not stressing too much about the time b/c I know it's nearing, but at the same time I can't WAIT to get them off!!!

My estimate was 18 months. Only had them on 3 days so no idea how accurate that is yet

Re: Braces - estimated times
Well.....update that I have at least 2 more months. So I'll be at least 20 months with an original estimate of 18 months. I also have to mention my teeth have not visibly changed in months, so I'm guessing my ortho sees something that I don't.
Re: Braces - estimated times
Hey, hazybubbles. I got my braces on Friday Feb 18 too! My orthodontist estimated 12 months with extractions. Some other orthos estimated 18 months to 2 years, but they mostly work with kids. My orthodontist almost exclusively does adults, so I trust him.

Re: Braces - estimated times
I was told 24-30 months. Seems like eternity..I hope it flies by!! I have an impacted canine though, so I suppose my braced time could change.
