Yep. I was just curious. I'm going to Parker.

Sorry to hear about all your issues, I also had braces previously which led to dental compensation (what a waste of money!). Well I'm in phoenix so Dr. Gunson has to coordinate with an ortho here and I'm getting braces no sooner May since I'll be graduating college then, I don't want to wear them while in school. But I plan to move to California within a year, that'll making traveling to Dr. Gunson much easier.treevernal wrote:Hey ReoSity,
I had braces as a teenager (which were done very poorly) resulting in a lot of dental compensation, facial decline, and arthritic TMJ joints. I've been a mouth-breather my whole life due to nasal obstruction (allergies/deviated septum) and that led to very little mandibular growth which led to my tongue obstructing my airway which led to obstructive sleep apnea, Yay! Hehe. Needless to say, it's taken me years to figure out what my underlying issues are after doing a lot of online research and finally learning about orthognathic surgery.
I'm starting braces this fall with an ortho Arnett recommended here in San Diego. How about you? When are you going to start braces?

I started my treatment about a month and a half ago - my ticker says the exact time that's gone by. Not so bad so far

When this fall are are going to get braces?

Oh geez, lol, I can't believe I didn't see that ticker! That's great though, I'm glad that braces are working out well for you.
My plan is to start orthodontics in October. I have a wedding to fly back east for in early October then after that I'll be ready to go. However, a few weeks or so before then I need to get a lot of my teeth bonded to bring them to their proper heights after years of grinding
The goal is that my teeth will fit together quite well after surgery. I'll have braces for approx 9 months pre-op then surgery (sometime mid-late 2012) then six months post-op have them removed.
My teeth are actually quite straight (no crowding) but the occlusion is awful.
How long are you in braces/when will you be getting surgery?

I was always a conscientious flosser and for me, the bonding was (and still is) the worst part of the whole deal for me. They totally don't warn you that you won't be able to floss with it, so I was totally surprised by that. I guess they must not think it's a big deal. The bonding splatters all over all your teeth and feels so gross, grimy, and never feels like it brushes clean! They are still worried about my joints and I was originally going to get all my crowns this summer about 15 months post-surgery (and I was supposed to have my braces off like 6+ months ago AHHHHHHHH) and I was really excited about being able to floss again. Alas, they're leaving the braces on still because I'm still banded at night and they don't want me to have my jaw open for extended periods of time still this summer to put the crowns in, so I'll probably not be able to do it till next summer which means no flossing for 2+ years. Enjoy that last floss and invest in a waterpik! I didn't realize that i needed to savor that last glorious flossing. I remember it fondlytreevernal wrote:However, a few weeks or so before then I need to get a lot of my teeth bonded to bring them to their proper heights after years of grindingThe goal is that my teeth will fit together quite well after surgery.

I'm in braces supposedly for 18-24 mths. I have pretty straight teeth, just bite issues mostly. No surgery planned at this time.
