Should I remove wax to eat?

Should I remove wax to eat?
I tried eating with wax, but some came off. Am I supposed to remove it and then replace it? Is it reusable? Do I remove to brush and then repace it?

Re: Should I remove wax to eat?
You can certainly remove it before eating if you wish. I never did. If something was tender enough for me to need wax, then I definitely wanted wax on while eating. That's when the most chaffing happens. It's non-toxic, so you don't need to worry about eating it. I'm sure I ate at least a few packages of the stuff and I lived to tell the tail.
And yes, I guess it would be reusable, but I treated it as a one-time-use-item. It was just too much of an ordeal to take it all off just to save it to put it back on. Life's too short. Throw away (or eat it) and apply more.

I guess you can keep the wax in, but you're supposed to take it out while eating, so you don't eat it. It is not supposed to be reused. If you get the silicone wax, either Orthosil or BraceGard, you're also supposed to take it out while eating, but you can squish it and reuse it. Wax or the silicone wax is definitely supposed to be taken off when you brush. I'm not sure if you have your story on here, but my ortho explained everything to me when I first got my braces. I think it's weird when an ortho puts the braces on and just lets you leave without saying much or explaining all the goodies they give you (if they give you any). Good luck.

If you want to remove it, it's fine. I ate with mine on and had no issues. I only took it off to brush and then replaced it. I forgot a few times, was a bit nasty brushing with wax bits. But, the wax is reusable. Altho, at times I just replaced it with new wax.lunadali wrote:I tried eating with wax, but some came off. Am I supposed to remove it and then replace it? Is it reusable? So many times I've forgotten and brushed a blob of wax onto my toothbrush or accidentally swallowed it.
I try to remove it first bt don't always remember.
