Just got braced

#1 Post by Stephluvzmike4ever »

Hi everyone... My name is stephani and I just got braces 2 days ago. I have one question... How do you floss your back teeth? My teeth are small and crowed... The bracket covers the whole tooth! I tried to floss the back teeth but the floss won't go through! Anyone had or has this problem? Any idea on what I should do? Thanks!! :)

I've noticed a lot of people on this forum using a 'waterpik' (http://www.waterpik.com.au/)... I've never used it but it looks like an excellent (or even better) substitute for thread flossing.

I just got my braces this week too and am having trouble getting to the back teeth with the threader. Flossing has certainly become a huge pain in the butt since getting braced! But unfortunately, we need to keep working at it. A waterpick is great for getting stuff out from between the braces and general cleanup, but it shouldn't be used in the place of flossing. Maybe at your next appointment you will want to take the time to as if they have any tips for you on how to improve your approach to the back ones?

Chin up and take care, we will all get the hang of this together!

I had this problem when I first got braced. Soon the teeth will have enough room to floss in between. It is still difficult though. I basically have to put my whole fist in my mouth haha. It gets easier I promise. Hang in there and congrats.
