Inman aligners

Re: Inman aligners
I have an expander in my aligner and it does not change the shape of your face at all. It expands your mouth very slightly (as in you don,t even notice it). Once the treatment is finished and I get a permanent retainer in place my dentist has said that my molars will go back to their original position or near enough. The front teeth still stay straight because of the room that has been made by the expander plus the retainer keeps them in place.

Re: Inman aligners
I got an Inman Aligner fitted on 10th March and it hurt so much for the first few days but now I can hardly feel it. I don't think there's been much movement though so I'm afraid it won't work and I'll have wasted €1700.
I got it on my lower teeth but need it even more on my upper. I was going to get both together but I got a call from someone working there last week and they said I shouldn't wear both together even though the dentist said it would be ok. Has anyone worn 2 together?

Don't worry Hatemyteeth, I didn't see movement in the first 10 days, be patient it will work and the money won't be wasted! I have it on my bottom jaw only so don't know about the two together. If they tell you one thing and then ring with a different it doens't give you much confidence in them! If I were you I would ring and ask to speak to the specialist that fitted it and find out exactly what his advice is and get things sorted so you know what to do, rather than worrying about conflicting advice. have you got both of the IAs or just the bottom one at the moment?

Re: Inman aligners
Hi dreamer, that's encouraging about not seeing movement yet, thanks.
I just have the bottom one at the moment. I ordered that when I went for my initial consultation because the dentist wasn't sure if my top teeth were suitable. When I got the bottom one fitted on 10th he said that the top was suitable (and I loved seeing the "after" moulds!) so I asked him to order in the top then. He estimates the bottom will take 2-3 months and the top will take 4 months.
He said it would be a mouthful :) but manageable but then I got the call last Wednesday from a person working there who said they weren't meant to be worn together.
I have an appointment on Thursday so I'll check with him then. I'm going to Redmond Molloy so I actually trust the dentist.
I'm still extremely self conscious about my sticky out lip when the aligner is in but it'll be worth it if it means I can eventually smile in photos!

Re: Inman aligners
I completely understand being self conscious of it! I was too at first, but you just get used to it and everyone I have spoken to that know I have it in have said it's not really noticeable, they just see my lip sticking out a bit more than usual because they no it's there, but I haven't had anyone say - what's wrong with your mouth etc so don't worry - I think we notice it a lot more than other people!
having read most of this forum I don't think anyone has had both in the same time, it seems one at a time is more common, sosee your your dentist said, I would like the idea of getting both done at the some time to get it over and done with but then if they're not designed to do that then maybe best to do one at a time.
you will see movement after a while - I advise taking photos to be able to compare as I didn't do this and it's quite hard to tell when you're looking at your teeth day in day out trying to find movement!

Re: Inman aligners
Hi there
I had inman about 2 years ago, when I was done my ortho gave me a clear retainer which was built 'straight' to 'finish off the final little teaks.' I just accepted this as was happy to be 'done' and just trusted my ortho! However about 9 months/a year later a got ome holiday snaps and realised they just werent quite straight- LOADS beter than they used to be, but hey I had paid over a grand, so went back to see her again.
She was great and said she'd gice me a few of the clear invisalign braces (which usually cost a lot more than inman) just to sort out the final adjustments. Well that was about 9 months ago and the pics on the link below show where Im up to. I know they are ALMOST perfect now but I still feel theyre not quite straight. (Maybe all these brances have just made me over-aware? i spend half my life looking at my teeth!!!) I think they maybe are still slightly inverted in the middle (front two teeth) which was the problem to begin with even thouh obvioulsy they are now greatly improved. Also one of my main front teeth slightly rests on the small tooth next to it which means it doesnt lie completely flat, and dont know if this can really be solved as think the smaller tooth would need to be moved sideways which is a not a movement that the inman was designed for.....but the ortho did say when I took out the treatment that it would give me straight teeth....
I have asked family/friends if they think I should ask for another invisalign to tweak again but they think im being a bit obsessive and that my teeth are fine- but I thought people on here who know how it feels and have gone through it themselves would give me an honest perspective!
The reason Im asking is that Im starting to sense that my ortho has had enough and doesnt want to give me anymore of these clear braces, (also is going on maternity and think she ants me done!!).
Ive got my check up tomorrow so would really appreciate if anyone could take a look at the pics on the Photobucket link (file size was too big to upload here) and let me know if you think Im right to ask fro another clear brace to tweak final adjustments.
Thanks sooo much!!

Hi Sazzler!
I think your teeth look fab! I can't wait to have teeth as straight as that
I know if you aren't happy with them yourself then you want to continue to fix them.
But from a strangers point of view, I think they look FAB!
Good luck with it.

Re: Inman aligners
Sorry Boomerang I didn't mean it changing face when the IA is in, I meant as a result of straightening it will probably change my profile of my top lip really - even though in my case it will be very slight as my teeth are only pushed forward a tiny bit.boomerang wrote:I have an expander in my aligner and it does not change the shape of your face at all. After chatting on here definitely not going to the dentist who gave a cursory consult and will wait until I move, found a couple of names in North Devon and South if anyone has any recommendations down that way please let me know

Sazzler, I haven't even begun treatment yet so not sure if am rightly experienced enough to comment but I'd love it if mine were that straight and white - but I know what you mean, it's a lot of money and I OCD obsess about all sorts when I've bought a new (or nearly new) car or motorbike I examine every tiny mark and scratch and fret about it endlessly -sazzler61 wrote:Hi there

and the teeth are a lot of money like buying a vehicle but even more personal as you live with them every day and for the expense you want them perfect.
Only in one shot does it actually look like the front is overlapping just slightly, the others look fine.
I don't think teeth are ever going to look perfectly 100% precise to be honest unless you go for the whole hollywood veneer scenario of course -
hope that's some help....I'd be happy with them but you have to be comfortable....
oh and if you won't take offence me saying so you're incredibly pretty anyway so you'll be fine while I may need to wear a

Re: Inman aligners
Sorry braces friend, I would like to ask something to the one who've got an expander on their InmanAligner, because I've got one, today is the day where I have to enlarge it, and so make a turn with the key, but , I really don"t know in which direction I have to turn the key? to the left? or to the right?
please help me
please help me
Re: Inman aligners
Sazzler - your teeth look amazing! And i understand that you want them to be perfect, since the treatment is really expencive - especially if you've had both IA and Invisalign. In my opinion, they really wouldn't need braces - I looked closely to one of the pictures and was able to see one tooth to be overlapping on the other just a little bit. If they were my teeth, I'd probably be satisfied, but the most important thing is that you are happy with them. So, if it bothers you, I think you should mention about it to your orthodontist - you've paid a lot of money to get completely straight teeth and to be satisfied with them. Good luck! :)
Re: Inman aligners
Hey suicidtheory, my expander has arrows on it that point upwards in the direction the key goes. You put your key in where the arrows are and push the key until it hits the bar above. Hope that helps you out a bit. Good luck

Re: Inman aligners
I've finished my IA treatment!!!
I'm really pleased with the result. I was in on Tuesday to get the bonded wire retainer fitted, and the dentist shaved the teeth down to make them even, which made a huge difference and was totally painless! He then took impressions and I got my clear essix retainer today! The wire retainer feels fine, and even the essix is ok as well. I'm supposed to wear the essix full time as well if possible for 6 months, then only at night. Just for extra protection I suppose.
He took some photos and will email me them, so I will post them as soon as I get them. Here are a couple I took anyway.

Jack Daniels - your teeth look great! Really is a neat result. I was preparing myself for the treatment to take longer as l can only wear for about 16 (sometimes more) hours per day, but i think i've noticed a little bit of movment already even though it's only been a couple of weeks. It's encouraging when you begin to see your teeth move.
