in feb i took pics and my smile looked pretty good. had a slight overjet but helped fill my face out and my teeth were straight with no gaps.

since he put me in elastics, my teeth are starting to look bad. i have gaps everywhere now in my top teeth and looks terrible.

Cant I tell him I want my teeth the way there were in February and he can put them back ? ... Looks like he is narrowing my top arch . I am not sure why I am getting gaps.

often things will look worse before they look better. if you are concerned maybe you could get your ortho to explain what they are doing in terms of what movements to expect so you know things are on track to look good in the end.

I'm going to guess that the in-between stage is awkward, and that it will be better when it all comes together in the end...

You are only 8 months in...your teeth are going to look very different at the end (and throughout), than they do now. But they will look so much better.

I wouldn't worry. After my first month my teeth looked immaculate. After that, everthing is all over the place. Today I get up, big space at the bottom. Tomorrow the top looks a little weird compared to yesterday. I look out for comments everytime I go to see my ortho, but I get nothing....and sometimes no news is good news. I went once and he proclaimed that my teeth are not looking like what he wanted. Now they seem to be doing ok....I did notice a new space at the bottom though, but I wont worry too much. Try not to as well
