Re: Inman aligners
Lea your teeth are looking great! I am waiting on my IA to come in. Both excited and nervous about getting started but so looking forward to results
Re: Inman aligners
Went back to my dentist yesterday and he reckons it will only be a few more weeks. Just the final lining up to do now. I had the springs tightened and quite a big gap made and my appointments are now going to be weekly.
Unfortunately because the springs are tighter and the pressure is increased i'm back to being in quite a lot of pain when I take it out and particularly when I have to put it back in again! Hopefully that will settle soon.
Wearing it as much as possible now because I cant wait to be done!

Re: Inman aligners
My dentist never seems to tighten my springs, instead the pressure seems to be controlled by composites on the back of my teeth. I had some more filing done tonight and I'm back next week for more.
I'm still waiting for the upper IA to come in.

Re: Inman aligners
This is the first time the springs have been tightened. I do have composites on my teeth as well. Still in some pain for ten minutes or so when I first take it out and then again when I put it in again but it seems to be settling down. Am back to not being able to eat apples again though! They look really really straight and i'm so pleased. Cant wait to have them whitened and then i'm going to buy a red lipstick!
Re: Inman aligners
Well, the halfway (hopefully) mark is in sight and my teeth are on the move. Had a couple of composites put on my teeth this week, one at the front and one at the back to hold the aligner more firmly in place and put more pressure on certain areas. But boy it makes getting the aligner out very tricky - it's so firm now I can hardly pull it out - keeps feeling like I'm going to break it, which would be really devastating! Hopefully it's tougher than it looks! Has anyone ever broke their aligner in this way ..? On the positive side, it means I'm not taking it out so often to eat & drink - so good for weight loss as well - perhaps I ought to suggest the Inman diet to Weightwatchers ...! With the additional expander, my speech is pretty much the same (bad) - really have to take my time, but certain words are no-no's ! My dentist also has an IA but finds it difficult to wear during the work day as her patients cannot understand her. Find it quite funny to think of the tables being turned, as it's usually her patients who cannot talk..!
Re: Inman aligners
Anyone have any experience of the 'clears' to finish off your treatment?
Re: Inman aligners
Dentist called today saying my IA was in. I go Monday to begin the process! I see soup and ice cream in my future. How long did it take you to be able to eat normally.
Re: Inman aligners
Hi All,
I am due to get my IA on 23rd May to straighten by central incisors - I start work at the end of August so really hope to have straight teeth by then so I don't have to wear it to work. I think I am just getting the basic Inman Aligner on my top arch - does anyone have any photos of what it looks like in? I am getting concerned it will be very visible and I will look like a teenager again! I have searched the internet but can't find anything.
Also, I am getting nervous having read all this talk of pain on this thread! I have never had a brace before - is it really bad? Also, I am concerned about teeth getting wobbly - does this sort itself out eventually?!
Thanks in advance for any words of comfort!!!

Re: Inman aligners
Don't panic too much about not being able to eat. I did, bought loads of soup and custard etc, anything Ithought I would be able to eat after I got it and didn't need any of it! Ok, so biting into things was tender but cutting everything up with a knife and fork (i.e. fajitas) was fine in my experience.Tennessee wrote:Dentist called today saying my IA was in. snt24 - don't worry. in my experience the pain isn't too bad. to begin with it hurts when you take it out and putit back in again but it's not as bad as you think. I bought strong painkillers before I got mine and haven't used any. Also, my inman has a clear bar at the front making it so much less noticeable than the one I had as a kid. I don't think they're too noticeable, ok it's never going to be invisible but they don't draw too much attention to themselves.
hope that's helpful
