Pics of Progress - 7 months

#1 Post by kreyFL »

I thought I would add my pics to the pile. Sorry for the low res quality.

Uppers: Ceramic 10-6-10
Lowers: Metal 4-11-11

You can see my teeth werent THAT crooked, mostly my open/crooked bite which is proving to be the most difficult thing to fix. What is funny is how my bruxism has changed the pointiness of certain teeth. For example, look at the upper canines. The left canine, which has never been able to touch the bottom tooth to grind on, comes to a point...where as the other canine is dull and rounded. Ortho says a little bonding and filing will help that out, or I can let it naturally wear away once it has a contact point....

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! Open bite is going good....still open but the left side of my mouth is FINALLY starting to touch. It's fun adjusting to new chewing surfaces...its like "Hey that feels neat to chew with that tooth!"

For the white...I use a toothpaste called SUPERSMILE. I cannot rave enough about it. Here is my post from another thread about the toothpaste...I am serious...it works REALLY good.

I have never been a product pusher, but I gotta tell you about a toothpaste I found. I am a previous smoker who has been braces for about 7 months. I drink 4+ cups of coffee a day...sometimes tea instead....but needless to say, staining has been a problem. I have non-lig ceramic uppers, and metal lowers.

This toothpaste I found is called SuperSmile. I have purchased 2 bottles now...and trust me, I would NEVER spend $18 on toothpaste unless it worked, I am a $3 Colgate kinda gal. But it worked, wonders!. It is a cosmetic whitening toothpaste, safe to use every day and is specifically made for" caps, crowns, bonding, and BRACES!" Just Google Super Smile and you will see it, I purchased it from Amazon although they do sell them through their website too I think.

I used it skeptically the first time thinking I had just wasted $20 on freakin' toothpaste...but it was damn good. I use the white strips and whatnot with my braces too, but this toothpaste changed the game.

No more gross stains on my ceramics even! I dont have ligs...so no clue how it would work with those.

I just re-read my post and it sounds pretty....cheesy, lol but I am serious, it was worth every penny...and if there are people out there with braces who smoke or drink coffee/tea, this is THE BEST stuff out there. Combine the toothpaste with the Glide Scope Whitening floss, and booya!

Frankly, 20$ on a toothpaste is too much no matter how great it is.

Arent you afraid of the teeth under your braces being a different color since you are whitening while braced?

wow, thanks for the infomercial on Supersmile! I am getting clear braces with a white ligament in a few weeks and I got to wondering if the coffee I LOVE to drink and the occasional tea wouldn't quickly stain them and ick, i'd be so p*ssed if that happened and I'd be stuck with yellowy brackets. I'm totally gonna have some of that on hand. Do you use it every day in place of your Colgate (I'm a Colgate girl too!!) or do you wait til you show signs of discoloration? Does it bring discolored brackets back up to clean, white and shiny again?

kreyFL....teeth look really good!! You have to be so pleased so far!!

I have ceramic on top...I asked for smoke color ligs ( from what I have read on here...they stain less)...they did not have those but I have pearl ligs. Clear and white would stain faster.
