power chain
I got a new power chain on my front two teeth and boy does it hurt. The last one hurt to but geeze a fresh chain makes a difference. I go back in 6 weeks for another adjustment and getting my lower braces on ....not sure how I feel about this.
Re: power chain
Yep - powerchains are mighty painful things, but boy, they sure do work for closing and straightening things up! I had a short one on for a few months to close up an extraction gap, and I'm not gonna lie... every time they changed it, my butt raised out of the seat just a little. It worked wonders for helping to close the gap.
Hang in there!

Re: power chain
I've had ones pulling my canines back for a while now, but the tooth still hasn't moved That's mostly what is holding up my progress, getting these gaps closed!

Re: power chain
i've had a powerchain (upper and lower) on for almost 2 weeks and I still notice my small gaps. I guess I'll be wearing them for a while!

Re: power chain
I started with a small powerchain to close an extraction gap and that was painful. Got full powerchain 8 weeks ago and my gap still isn't closed and actually has gotten bigger I also have class II elastics for my overjet which has worked great. Still need to get that pesky gap closed - just hope ortho doesn't put some new device on to help close the gap. Had to quit my elastics this week because my molar band where I attach my elastic to is loose and ortho said to not wear them till I see him Monday and get the molar band recemented.
All I can say is do what they ask and it will help in the end.

Re: power chain
My gap seems to be closing fairly quickly it still is not closed I have had the power chaines almost two months and dont go back for my next appt for 4 weeks. I am excited to see what happens between now and then. Luckily the pain after the second power chain subsided within a couple days and I feel nothing now.
I also get my lower braces on then , I think that will be very weird

Re: power chain
are power chains just for closing gaps?
Re: power chain
Im not sure if power chains are just for closing gaps or not, I know mine were specifically for that I had on one for about 6 weeks and got the second one at the next visit about two weeks following the gap was closed. I still have the power chain on and just got fitted recently with my lower set of braces.
It so weird seeing that gap closed after having it for 25 years. Everyone around me has noticed so much of as difference in the short time I have had these braces on it makes me looking forward to the final smile!!

Re: power chain
I have a powerchains for straightening some teeth and pulling them back away from the front of my mouth. I have issues with crowding and rotations, and no gaps.
And yeah, they hurt. I was having a relatively painfree experience until I got a stiffer wire and some powerchains. Now I am really into soft foods...

Re: power chain
I just got my first powerchains today, all the way across top and bottom teeth. Yikes! These are not pleasant. Normally I don't mind the pain, but I feel as much pain as I did the first couple days of braces. Hopefully they move stuff along, though, then it'll be worth it!

Re: power chain
I just got my first powerchain today all the way across the top, which seems a little excessive since the gap is between my two back molars, but holy crap I came home right away for pain killers.
All the progress with actually being able to eat almost normally again just went out the window again. Really not looking forward to soup and yogurt again
Not sure how much more of this I can take, I travel for a living and finding food I can eat on the road is becoming a pain in the ass.

Re: power chain
I got a powerchain this week to close an extraction gap and bring down my canine ... Ow, ow, ow.
To make it worse, the wire popped out of the bracket on the opposite side, and they re-did the entire top, including the powerchain. Ugh.
