MrsW2B - try some orthodontic wax to put over the springs, it will stop them digging into your mouth. Your dentist will have some. I bought some from Boots for about £3.

Suicidtheory -I'm the same as you regards speech in that it's not really improved since day 1. With the top expander fitted to the IA it means that your tongue cannot connect with the roof of your mouth - which unfortunately it needs to do to form quite a few everyday words !! For some reason, anything beginning with D is really difficult for me. So I've just put up with all the giggles and mickey-takes from my supposed "friends" ...! They'll get fed up of it sooner or later..! All else is progressing well. My dentist warned me that the next few weeks will be a bit slow (just at the end of week 7) as the expander needs to do some work and make more room for the teeth to move. But we had another look at my original cast this week, just so she could reassure me that there has been a lot of progress. Good idea to keep checking how bad things were at the beginning! Guess we get impatient and want it all over and done with!

I really feel you, because my friends looks like your, but I have to say that it's been 5 or 6 days since they do not attack me on my bad speech lol.
Same here, anything beggining with D or S is really hard for me!
What type of movment your teeth need? how long you have to wear it?
My dentist said that i will need it for about 5/6months, so about 3months left for me

PS: sorry for my bad english, but i'm French lol

Hi All

I've had my IA around 5 weeks now, just wondered how easy everyones brace is to take out? Mine doesn't seem too hard and I can pop it out with one hand, this has lead me to think that it's not applying enough pressure. I asked my dentist if it needs tightening but he's said it doesn't......has anyone had theirs tightened?

I'm not too sure on how successful my brace has been thus far....there doesn't seem to be any massive changes to date.

Looking forward to your replies!

Hi Suicidtheory, your English is a lot better than my French, so no worries there. I've two teeth that need to move forward, two that need to move back and rotate round, and the front two that are slightly crossed and need to straighten ..! I was given a 12 week timescale (at week 7 now), but think it may take longer. One side is just about there, but the other side needs more room to move, so I'm having to wait for the expander to do its work.

Hi Danasher0912. I need two hands to take mine out, mainly because I have to push back the extra expander from behind my teeth before I can pull the sides down. Also due to turning the expander every week this tightens the IA - sometimes it feels like I've got a vice around my teeth! I first saw some movement after around 3 weeks, but everyone is different, so I wouldn't worry too much. Also because you're probably looking for some change every day, you don't realise that things are happening. I looked back at my original cast this week and it made me realise just how much had changed.

earthgirl wrote:Hi smiletime, did it hurt getting your teeth filed to make them level? I'm going to ask my dentist to do the same because one of my front teeth was chipped slightly as a child and is shorter than the other one. I think it will look more prominent when they're straight. Did your dentist do this as part of your IA treatment or did you have to pay extra?

Hi Earthgirl,

No it didn't hurt at all. You can just detect a burning smell, but thats it!

Dentist does it at/near the end of your treatment once most of your teeth have moved into position. It is all part of the treatment at no extra charge. It takes 2 mins!

Hi, everyone, i'm new to the forum, and ive got some/alot of questions on inman agliners :P

firstly: i'm really considering getting them put in, im 18 next month. so how much would it roughly cost for top and bottom to be placed in.
also, what methods of payment do you all use, can you pay in installments e.g montly etc..
.. secondly. do they actually work properly?, my front two teeth cross over, ("snaggle tooth") so would the IA straighten those,
lastly, how soar are they, and are the normal ones very visable.
:D , tell me your experineces pleasee

Hi SeanPaul,

I don't know where you are but it cost me €1700 per arch so €3400 in total and that seems to be pretty standard. My dentist didn't allow installments so I paid upfront but I know some do.
I've had the bottom one 10 weeks and there's a huge difference so it definitely works. I have about 2 weeks left with that one. I have the top one 1.5 weeks and haven't noticed movement yet but it's a bit soon. I have quite severe crowding but I think it should work having seen the results on the bottom so far.

It's sore for the first few days (see my previous posts - last weekend I was in a lot of pain but thankfully it's gone now).

Yes, they're visible. At least at first they are. Nobody notices my bottom one now but I'm sure that's because my teeth have straightened so it's not as bulky. The best thing is that you can take them out so you can go out for dinner or to a meeting and nobody even knows about it.

If it was around when I was 18 (and I had the cash) I'd definitely have gotten it done. I'm just sad that I didn't do it sooner.

Good Luck.

€3400 is around £2900 pounds so not quite as bad.

SeanPaul,

I am from N Ireland too and Gentle Dental Clinic in Warrenpoint do it for £1000 per arch. That is everything all in.

I get mine done in ROI cos I am based down here, but was gonna go home to get the treatment.

It's just expensive in ROI.

If you are near Warrenpoint, then go for it! :D

Hi there,

I am so glad I have found this forum, I have my inman aligner fitted on Friday afternoon to straighten my front teeth. I wore braces as a teenager but have never been happy with the results, so at 31 I am trying again.

Does anyone have any advice for that first few days - I guess it will be a quiet weekend for me?

Thanks
kittenheels
