anyone with the same problem?

#1 Post by tianna »

Is this normal? The molar which has a band around it hurts to chew on,feels bruised, and whenever I floss around it feels even more bruised.I Can't put any pressure on it so eating on that side is impossible...I had molar ring around this tooth for 4/5 weeks so I don't understand why it started to feel so tender now...?

Not sure about the pressure. But for me, certain teeth have become real sensitive for a couple weeks and then the sensitivity subsides. Then a different tooth becomes sensitive and after couple weeks the sensitivity subsides again. This is just my opinion, but I suspect as the teeth move, the parts below the gumline may become exposed for a bit causing the sensitivity. :?

Hi Tianna,

My bottom left band felt a little awkward when I bit down on it last week, luckily I noticed this before I left the dental office.
The doctor "polished" or sanded down the band so that when I bit down, it would be a little more comfortable. Well it's not perfect
and the bite feels a little off, but no pain.

When is your first adjustment? If it's not for a while I would call and have them look at that band on that tooth if it is really bothering you.

Good Luck!

I would call your ortho's office.

I had a bottom band that I was actually hitting with my top 2 molars when I chewed. The ortho had to remove it and put a new one on.

I also have teeth that feel sensitive for a few days, then other one's feel sensitive and it keeps changing every couple of days. I think it is all part of the process but if you are in pain, it won't hurt to call.
