I'm on 2 weeks and my speech is no better. For phone or long/in depth conversations I take mine out. I'm wearing for a minimum of probably 22 hours a day. The mickey taking at work is starting to wear me down. One person in particular just can't resist, and I can see me losing my temper very soon.

The most painful thing for me is the inside of my mouth where the springs have rubbed and my tongue - my tongue is sooo sore. It now has a pattern/indent on it where it rests against the top of my mouth at night, which stings especially when cleaning my teeth.

My front teeth were sore for the first few days, but now only ache if I try to bite something tough with them. I'm back for a check up on Monday. I'm guessing he'll tighten it up, and then my teeth will really ache.

Despite all of this, I still think it's going to be the best £1500 I ever spent!!

I'm on week 9 and my speech is loads better than it was at first, but still too bad for me to wear the IA at work. I've only been wearing it on average 15 hrs a day, but my teeth are definitely straighter. Think I'm about half way there.

It's been 6 weeks for me. Speech was pretty impossible for the first few days but got better. Since then I have a strong lisp and it is a conscious effort to talk. Rest assured you can make yourself understood but it is an effort. I'm a talkative person but not so much recently.

I can wear the aligner it at work (most people are alright and refrain from jibes) but not on the phone or meetings.

It's recommended 16-20 hours. The more you wear the faster the results.

Hi there
Im new to site (and forums) but found this site so informative and helpful whilst researching IAs. I've had impressions taken and just waiting for next appointment - though had a message left saying I need a "fan screw" - does anyone have one of these - is it done in conjunction with IA? I think it's to create space as I have crossed, crowded front teeth and also asked for a wide smile. I'm also worried about "shaving" teeth - my teeth are small already - does it reduce their size significantly? sorry all sounds daft - can't wait to get started - thanks for all the positivity on site.

Finally got the impression taken for my (lower teeth) retainer :D I wore it a lot longer than expected because for the last few weeks I've been trying to tweak one tooth and finally it worked.

I only have the upper one 5 weeks (should be 10 weeks but I lost a bit so there's the delay). I've definitely seen some improvement but there's a long way to go yet.

I go back to the dentist on Monday. I'm undecided on what I should do. Although my teeth are better they aren't straight yet. There are small spaces between my front 3-4 teeth now that didn't used to be there as well as the front two not completely lined up. The last time I went the dentist ask if I was safisfied with where my teeth were. I'm not. My problem is my schedule is giong to be very busy in a few weeks and I will not be able to wear as much as I am now. Will the IA be able to rotate the tooth a little?
I think the dentist is trying to get my treatment completed because I said I'd like to be finished by Aug. But at the same time I want to get my money's worth out of this.

Tennessee, I think you have to stick with it. It's a lot of money to spend not to be satisfied with the result. I know it's not guaranteed what the end result will be, but you have to use all the resources available that you've paid for. My dentist has advised that I will probably have to wear a clear Invisalign-type brace for a while after the IA. This will rotate one of my canine teeth which is proving particularly stubborn to move. It's really been a trial for the last 5-6 weeks as not much has been happening. I have made the final turn on the expander this week, so as much space as possible has been created. But two teeth are moving VERY VERY slowly. It's so hard to stay positive when you can't see that anything is happening. I've been wearing the IA for around 16 weeks and I just want to stop wearing it! Be great to have a finish date ... but it's all so open ended that it feels like it will never end ..! Hope I haven't put any newbies off with all this moaning! I don't regret going ahead with the treatment, but I'm just impatient to get back to normal - especially speech-wise!!

My dentists hasn't mentioned the clear aligners at all. I think I could deal with them and if it comes down to it I CAN deal with the IA a little longer. The problem is my dentist is over 2 hours drive and starting in Aug. I will be busy and hard to get away. I will also have a lot of talking and dealing with people which is difficult with it in. Right now I wear 20-21 hours a day. I think this would be cut to the 15 hour range. Of course my goal is straight teeth and to finally have the smile I've always wanted so I'm willing to do what I need to.
