Poppy123's story

#1 Post by poppy123 »

Hi everyone

I thought its about time i shared my story and pics, been saying im going to for ages. Im not really new here, ive been braced since mid Aug 2010. I only found this site a weeks weeks afterwards. Its weird how teeth obessed ive become since getting my brace! so i love this site!

I'd wanted braces for years, i actually looked into it 5 years ago (wish id done it then!). Anyway, i booked in for a consultation in August, hubby came with me, and we were happy with the price and 'diagnosis' so i signed up there and then...and one week later it was on!! woo woo! so far so good. ive not really suffered too much and i got used to them very quickly.

I only started taking pictures one month in, so ive found some 'teethy' pics (eugh) and zoomed in so you can see my teeth before (ive strangely always smiled showing my teeth, even though i hate them). You can't see very clearly but my two front teeth sloped backwards quite a lot and the two either side stuck out.

I turn 30 in June next year (although im adamant im staying 29 forever!!) and it should be off by then! fingers crossed.

Im happy with how things are looking so far. Im not aiming for the perfect smile, i still want to look like me if you know what i mean. I am gonna ask him on monday if when they're ready will he shape my two front ones a bit smaller and rounder (i like round teeth...with round edges..dont know why?!)

I have ceramic uppers, not bothering with bottom ones, they're a bit crooked but hey ho. Am having a fixed retainer and also a clear one to wear at night.

Thanks for reading my story, this website is brill and ive loved chatting with you all, which is why im sharing my story and showing my pics (aarrrghhh!)

...here goes....

Your smile is just like mine! So I loved reading your story and it gives me encouragment. My braces aren't on yet- I just got molds and pictures yesterday. Dentist may want me to use an expansion piece and stuff, blah, blah. My process doesn't seem to be going like others.

Did you get self-ligating, Damon braces? Seems like you won't be in them for long!

Your teeth are a bit like mine, how the two front go in and the two on the sides stick out. Im glad it didn't take long for them to straighten up. They look great! I like the look of the clear braces. I will be getting them when I get braced :)

yes im really pleased with my progress. i found that the teeth that stuck out were a nightmare to begin with because of the brackets, i could hardly close my lips, but they moved back very quickly too so i didnt have that problem for long.

mama2cute, no i havent got damons, mine are just conventional braces. I have adjustments every 4 weeks, have got my 3rd one tomorrow. I really look forward to my appointments ha ha, am hoping i'll get a thicker arch wire tomoz!

Hiya,

Great pics. Your front teeth look amazing already. I'm not braced yet but hope to be soon. I'm 19 and adamant that will not change. I am not ready to be 20!

woo hoo! am very excited. Had an adjustment on Monday and my ortho is aligning my teeth now - just 2 days later my two front teeth are the same length as my other teeth!! am sooooooo happy!! got loads of gaps tho, but he told me not to worry about the gaps as they'll be closed last of all (with powerchains i presume - bring em on!) :D

Under a year? Jesus that was quick! Your teeth weren't a jumbled mess, but they did look to have to move quite a distance!
