Can I switch from metal braces to Invisalign?

Hello everyone

I have been in braces for about 15 months and I think I have another year to go. Is it possible to switch to Invisalign during my braces treatment? I would like to do this for personal reasons. My orthodontist does Invisalign as well so I won't be switching orthodontists. Would I have to pay all over again to get Invisalign? I'm not willing to pay full price for the treatment because I'm using the same ortho, but I am willing to pay maybe, at the most, half the price.

My orthodontist is a super nice guy and he always says how perfect a patient I am because I always do what he tells me. I am kind of nervous about asking him about switching to Invisalign because I don't know if this is a common thing people do. He asked me if I wanted Invisalign at the before my treatment because it would be around the same price, but I decided on the damon braces.

If anyone can give me some information on this kind of thing I would really appreciate it.

I think you can switch to anything as long as you pay for it. Only your ortho knows the price to switch based on the work remaining and additional costs. It’s not a common thing … most switches are from Invisalign to metal braces.

You’ll have to pay for the ortho’s planning time and materials again. Invisalign is a different technique from Damon brackets so the ortho has to do a different treatment plan upfront before the aligners are made and treatment starts. The aligners cost more than the brackets. Invisalign charges the providers roughly about $1000 to $1700usd.

Like Damon brackets, Invisalign aligners have their pros and cons so you may want to investigate further before switching.

You'll most likely pay for the new treatment, since it's entirely a new ball game. i have used damon for some months and then wanted invisalign. Let me tell you now I regret not sticking to damon. As I get back home (have been away for half an year, so my treatment is paused) I plan on getting back to damon. It works fast and well. not that pretty, but surely can more some teeth
