My Story.... and progress pics!
So I am a 31 year old mother of one who has had/crooked teeth for as long as I can remember. I was supposed to have braces put on when i was a teenager but my parents couldn't afford to do it so I grew to get used to my teeth and have simply put up with them.
I have a wayward upper canine that I affectionately refer to as my snaggletooth, (or sometimes just snaggle).
Thanks to some sideways growing wisdom teeth my lowers are extremely crowded as they were all pushed forward, I have had all four removed. I have also lost a lower molar as the wisdom was pushing so hard it literally snapped it in half.
I have lost an upper bicupsid after failed root canal treatment. (The only tooth I have ever needed a filling in).
To make room for my lil toothy pegs, My ortho had removed, an upper bicuspid on the other side, a lower bicuspid on my left, but due to the lost molar on the right, he was reluctant to take a bicuspid from that side as I would be left with only one tooth to chew with!
So he took a lateral incisor on the right. (much to my dismay)!
After all the extractions I am actually very happy I got my journey started, and really wish I had of done it sooner!
I have some slight movement, so check out my pics:

(I dont know how to change the order of the pics so if there are any photo bucket users out there that could help I'd appreciate it!)
Till next time!

Heya Bron!
Nice to see you got your pics up! I have no idea how to use Photobucket, so I'm not much help sorry. It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to upload mine!
Looking forward to following your progress and seeing your 'toothy pegs' fall into place!

Hey yeah I have molar bands, after they spread your lips passed the point that you think they will open They do the bands first.
My ortho chose a size placed it over my tooth and then asked me to tap down on it a few times. Did that with all four to make sure he fit the right size. Then he pulled them all out again (yep I was confused). He covered them with glue and did it all over again but got me to tap my teeth together while he held this little tool over it ro make sure he got it all the way to the gumline. It was a bit uncomfortable but didn't hurt as such. I have molar build ups on those same teeth which are more annoying than the bands themselves.
Good luck with yours, you will be fine It's really not as bad as you imagine.

Thanks Dojo, Its alway s nice to hear another person say they can see changes.
I stare at my teeth every time I'm anywhere near a mirror and I think I"m too picky to notice anything!
hopefully now things have started it will be a nice steady flow of movement! Even if only slight!

Hee Hee, Thanks Queen Liz!
I am pretty happy with my movement on the uppers. Its funny, I often refer to snaggle and how out of place he is but looking at these two pics next to each other... Now that my central incisor has been pulled forward and straight I can actually tell just how out of place that lateral incisor is now too! I always thought it was in a relatively good spot!
Looking forward to seeing some pics of your progress too! I love reading your posts, even with all your surgery issues you seem completely positive about the whole experience! I can only hope I am half as positive as you!
I have a check up with my ortho next friday, my first adjustment isn't until sep 14th, hopefully I can con him into doing it early... get these babies movin!

Yeah my first adjustment isn't until Sept. 23 and it was because of the surgery. But I'm feeling a ton better. I posted progress pics! Woot!

Hi Bec i am very well thank you!
So I had a surprise semi adjustment a week ago, was supposed to just be a quick check up but the ortho decided to put sime tighter bands on. (the ones that hold the wire on the brackets). Was quite sensitive on a few teeth but only for an hour or so. I kid you not one hour after the appointment I had a gap between my two lower central incisors that wasn't there before I went in!!! Always awesome to see real movement!!!
Six Weeks have passed and this is where I am at.
Day One:
Week Six:
Have an adjustment coming on the 14th of Sep when I will get a new wire!! Bring on the pain I say... It's all worth it!!

9 Weeks In!
So here I am 9 weeks in and things are moving along albeit slowly.. (well it seems slowly but I guess in the land of teeth its not that slow).
On day one my wayward left canine was only 4.5mm's away from my central incisor and now here at week 9 it has passed the 1cm mark and is sitting pretty at 11mms. Only another 1cm to go! Then finally one of my massive gaps will be closed.
I have finally noticed some movement in my lowers, a gap inbetween the incisors that happened shortly after my first adjustment, and now on the right hand side the canine that was firmly twisted sidways around my first bicuspid has risen and has created a slight gap between its neighbour as well.
All is going along the right path, got a new wire on top at my first adjustment as well as a stronger push coil to get this canine under control and will go back in another 5 weeks to check on progress again.
Day One:
Week 9
Hope other people can see the changes and its not just wishful thinking!
