**~~Braced Up~~**

#1 Post by tkna »

Short Story: Had right baby canine tooth pulled out last year because it rotting. Went in for a cleaning at the beginning of this year and dentist had a pan xray done on my teeth and he notice my right impacted canine at the roof of my mouth and 2 impacted wisdom teeth at the bottom. So my dentist suggested orthodontic treatment for the impacted tooth. This is where my journey begins. Had several consultation and finally settled with one ortho. Now I am living the braced life. Just had my damon braces put on today. No pain afterwards but several hours later I felt the pressure. My next appointment is in august and that will be my 1st adjustment and my ortho will schedule appointment for my exposure afterwards. *Cross fingers* when exposure is done the lil booger will come done.

I have a few questions. 1st time flossing with the braces on and it took forever. I used the threader and floss but I can't seem to get in between some of my teeth. Apparently a couple of the back molars have the bonding material on them that is why I can't get in between my teeth to floss? Any suggestion? It felt like a work out once I was done.

I can completely relate. When I asked my orthodontist about this issue, he just said to get where you can. The movement of your teeth will probably open those areas a little bit later on to floss those spaces properly.

Been busy so I haven't had a chance to update much. Last month I had my first adjustment. I thought it was going to take long but it was a tweak and I was done. Right now the ortho is trying to create space/room for my upper right canine. My front gap is now closed. The top and bottom teeth are aligning and I can feel my arch widening. It's fascinating how the brace process work. Each day I wake up there is always new changes and different feel to my mouth. Sometimes I am in pain and other times I am not. For several weeks I had issues w/ my bottom front teeth colliding w/ my top front and it was a painful experience. I had to train new co-workers on my team and every time my teeth collide I had to stop mid sentence and wait until the pain subsided. Oh, I have this weird habit of running my tongue to the roof of my mouth and feel where the canine is. I have been trying to keep an eye on it well not literally an eye but the progress of where it's at and it's weird b/c it is moving close to gap where the baby canine was originally at. Hopefully it's a good sign. I am super excited for my adjustment next week and following week after that I'll go in for my next adjustment for spaces, brackets to the back molars and my exposure appointment will be scheduled. That's what my ortho said on my 1st adjustment hopefully it stay as is. Will try to post pictures soon, maybe after my 3rd adjustment.

@BreEazy628 Thanks for your comment. I am finally getting the hang of flossing my teeth and the spaces created is making it easier to floss. Hope all is going well for you. ^--^

O M G so I had an appointment today and I am in so much pain right now. The spacers they inserted kind of hurt but the full effect came after I left the ortho office. My back molars hurts and the shooting pains are causing major headaches. Took pain killers but I am still in pain. Hopefully it will only last couple of days. Will have the spacers taken out next week and have my molar bands put on. :FeelSick:

Haven't updated much just been so busy. But heres a little update. I finally got both my bottom wisdom teeth out and my upper canine tooth exposed w/ gold chain link. I will activate the tooth in like 2 more weeks. My ortho wants me have some recovery time before he does it. Also, I will go to my oral surgeon to get my stitches out. Wonder how long it will take for the swelling to go down? I am so excited and anxious.
