Flouride Mouth Rinse
Hey my orthodontist gave me a special kind of mouth rinse called Colgate Phos-Flur Bubblegum Mouth wash and she told me to use it every night and I do but Im running out. Her office told me to tell them if I like it. I CANNOT find it in stores. I only found the mint kind for 15$ that I cannot afford every month. You think she'd give me more next month? If yes how should I go about asking?

My ortho also passes on things he gets for free, wax, wax substiutes. All the latest that he gets sent or picks up at conferences. So it couldn't hurt to ask for a handful of sample sizes.
THAT being said, it may not have been a sample size. I have a sample size of the colgate "rx" toothpaste that has a larger dose of flouride than over-the-counter stuff. I think your mouthwash is in the same product line. I got a sample size from my ortho, but if I want more I have to buy the "prescription" from my dentist. And it's about $15 a bottle. They say to use it once a day, I go with a few times a week to save some cash (also partially because flouride is a neurotoxin and I want to be careful how much I'm ingesting since it's already at random levels, sometimes quite high, in the water supply here).
conclusion: explain that you can't afford it, but want to take care of your teeth and see if she can snag some samples. if not, shell out for it and use it more sparingly. Good luck!

Hey yeah my orthos got a ton of stuff but they told me "What falvor flouride do you want?" i told them Bubblegum. They said "Ok use this every night and next time let us know how you like it" but it def wasn't sample size it was 16 Fl Oz. but the only 16 Fl Oz I could find was the Minty Flavor and Im DEF not a fan id buy it online but I never know how long its gonna take to ship etc and I dont always have the money that far in advance to buy it nor do I have a credit/debit card to buy it. Well I wouldnt mind buying it off her. like I would come to my adjustments and legot BUY it from her. But liek i said she's already doing my braces free so im scared to ask how should I word asking her?Chicagogal wrote:My ortho also passes on things he gets for free, wax, wax substiutes. The bubblegum flavor is available at a bunch of stores online, but I'm sure you need a credit card for them. Maybe some of them take PayPal, if you have a PayPal account. It seems to be priced between $12 to $17 depending on the store.
Anyway, if you can't afford that or can't make a purchase online, just be honest with her and tell her that you like the product but can't afford to buy it. She may continue to give it to you. It never hurts to ask.

I'm the owner/admin of this site. Had ceramic uppers, metal lowers ~3 years in my early 40's. Now in Hawley retainers at night!

Re: Flouride Mouth Rinse
Hey so I went to her for the first adjustment and said "Hey remember that really awesomeouth wash you gave me I went to 35 stores and could NOT find it." She said "That's because its not sold in stores, what did you do drink the other bottle?" I said "nope, i'd like to buy another bottle through your office thought." She said "Nope here's another bottle it should last you three months you don't need to fill it up to the ten line a little will do." I said "Oh ok thanks you sure you don't want me to buy it?" She said "Nope just make it llast is all and I can give you more in three months." So I neded up making out good Thanks for the suggestion.bbsadmin wrote:Anyway, if you can't afford that or can't make a purchase online, just be honest with her and tell her that you like the product but can't afford to buy it.
