Braces after surgery

I'm wondering how long most are in braces after their surgeries. I have had braces for a year, will see see the surgeon in a month and do all the prep for surgery. My ortho told me I would be in braces 2 more years!!!! I am having my lower jaw moved back and upper jaw moved out. Sorry, not sure what the technical names are. Thanks!

My dentist told me the normal was 6 months, but it really depends on your teeth and your situation. You never know, your ortho might decide that braces have finished their job earlier. You can't tell until you reach that point

I had braces 8 months before surgery (Had to rush it for other reasons). I need braces for 1 more year afterwards.

Kind of stinks that everything is in the gray. Nothing in regards to this is clear cut. I'm VERY slowly getting getting use to that!!!

I was told 3-6 months after surgery my braces can come off. In having surgery 1 year after getting the braces on.

I just asked this question when I was at the ortho last week- with my surgery coming up... I'm starting to get antsy about finishing up the whole process. He said I should be done within 6 months.
