Wiggly bottom teeth still after braces removed.
Well it has been 5 weeks since my braces were removed. My bottom front 8 teeth are still slightly mobile. I am able to wiggle them. I am worried that they will not firm up. I have a history of periodontial issues that was treated for a decade. Not sure if the mobility is due to my periodontial issues, root resorption, or just being 40 and taking longer to firm up? My ortho and perio both thinks they will firm up in a few months, but that seems like a long time.

I do not have periodontal issues and it was about 9-12 months after my braces were removed before I felt comfortable biting into anything with my front teeth. They just felt too wiggly when I used them. So yes, unfortunately it really can take awhile for them to firm up. I don't think my experience is normal though. I think most people are OK much sooner than a year, but the good news is that they do firm up. Just on their own time table.

I was told to wear retainers 24/7 for the first 5 months after debanding. Based on adjustments made to my retainers, my teeth are pretty mobile after 3 1/2 months. Not loose, but easily moved by changes in the retainer.
