Ok, this past week I went to my orthodontist and had final impressions done as well as some wax bite things. I go back on 5 Jan to discuss the molds and if I am ready to see the surgeon. He thinks I am, but wanted to make sure and have up to date molds to send to the surgeon (this was the 4th set). So, if I see my surgeon (I have only seen him once last Dec) in Jan, what will that visit involve? How long does it take to schedule surgery??? I am so excited and nervous at the same time!! I know it is getting closer and closer and I am already getting butterflies!!!

Re: Can't hardly wait.....
you still need insurance approval, which has taken me 3 months. then make molds again 2 week prior the surgery.
Re: Can't hardly wait.....
It appears to differ based on surgeons. My surgeon got the insurance approval before I even started the process and it took about 5 weeks to hear back from the insurance. Once my orthodontist gave me the green light, I saw the surgeon, they took molds and scheduled a date for me. I then went back (this past Thursday) for the final workup. My surgery is scheduled for next week.
When I went for consultations with other surgeons, they stated they submitted insurance approval once a date is scheduled. Other surgeons also said it would take about 2 months to get on the schedule. The surgeon that I selected didn't have such a long wait. So, YMMV

Ok, well I don't feel as far from the big race as I thought. The surgeon's office has already got approval for the surgery. I spoke with them last month. They called me to remind me to update my referral to them with my insurance so there wouldn't be any delays. Funny, I have one referral for the surgery and one for the office visits. Insurance companies, mine sure confuses me. At least the surgeons office seems to know what they are doing. We shall see.......
