Ah the awesome WaterPiks everyones talking about. I personally think flosing regularly getts more out and keeps the gums more cleaner if done right. People keep telling me to but I dont think its worth the 60 bucks when you can buy floss for like 1$ at the local dollar store that will last you like 2 years a pack.

I have one. My ortho actually recommended it and had some $10 off coupons. It works really well for me. My teeth were so tight that it was almost impossible to floss. I use this and I can see the stuff it gets out when I spit the water out. I can even use it around my metal bands and where the arms of my Palatal Expander meet my teeth, I can NOT even attempt floss in these places. I will say that I will probably just use floss once my braces are out and the crowding is no longer an issue, maybe using the water flosser in the morning and regular floss at night.

Well, speaking for myself, I ordered a WaterPik the day I learned my bracing day. A waterjet is part of my after-meals routine that I have elegantly deemed the "flush 'n brush." I use it to blast all the gunk off of my brackets so the toothbrush doesn't simply re-deposit nasty "afterfood" on my teeth. It seems to get out a lot of the little bits that just swishing fails to get out. (I use a battery-operated Pana-sonic when out and about; it's smaller and cheaper than the WaterPik portable.)

I did use the WaterPik once just to try it out before bracing, and my teeth did feel pretty darn clean afterwards; like I'd just had them polished... but I'd never use it as a total replacement for flossing. My teeth are so tight I barely ever flossed at all before Glide came out (and now that I'm braced I use Glide Threader Floss.) I have big doubts that a jet of water can get where Glide can barely go.

I don't know if I'll use it after I'm debraced 2 - 2 1/2 years from now, but it's an important part of my oral care until then.

I love my Redi-Breeze. I still floss every night, but use the Breeze after eating anything. It gets everything off my teeth, swishing doesn't seem very effective. Worth every penny, and I will continue to use it after the braces come off.

I got a WaterPik after I was braced. Even after 4 months, I still can't thread the floss in my back molars. They are tight together and short from bruxing and the wire is up against the gums. My orthodontist says the WaterPik will help until I'm to a point where I'm able to floss. I've found I love having it to get those bits of food. I don't need to use the proxabrush so much when I'm at home. For me, it has been worth the $$.
