Re: Inman aligners
Hi all,
I thought I'd encourage those of you who are either in the beginning or middle of the process by updating about my positive experience so far.
I've had my top arch IA for 15 weeks in total (I have to admit that it could have been about 12 weeks but I had a few days here and there that couldn't wear it) The last week was actually unnecessary as I was only waiting for the clear retainer to be ready, although I still had a persistent tooth that needed just a tiny last push which was achieved with the clear retainer.
The results are quite incredible. I am very pleased with the whole process and although it's been difficult at times I'm very happy with my new completely aligned top teeth
Second phase has now started and I've been wearing my bottom IA for a week while still wearing the clear retainer for my top teeth. I also have an expander that I need to adjust every three days in order to make some room for my crowded teeth to been pushed forward.
This first week is being quite more difficult than my experience with the top one. The reason is the expander in my IA which is quite big and takes a lot of space under my tongue. Lots of saliva being produced at the moment and having some difficulty to forget about it but I'm very slowly getting used to it. I have to admit it's worse than the IA only with no expander, though. The speech is better than it was with top IA but I have a bit of pain when I talk as my tongue is quite restricted in terms of movement.
I'm hoping it is true that bottom teeth move quicker and also that I can stop wearing both retainer and IA soon. The plan is to use a new clear aligner for my top teeth to close a tiny gap between two teeth and then go for the fixed wire retainer for good.
Sorry about the long message. I will leave before and after photos soon when I go to my next appointment.
Good luck!

Re: Inman aligners
Hi all,
I have also been on the inman, top and bottom for the past 5 weeks. My top one is great, not working that well but only one tooth is really out of line and my dentist told me at the start it would be the last to move (i can see it going now, slowly, very slowly) I have no pain and its very easy to take in and out..
The bottom one however is a nightmare, it hurts each time i take it out and put it back in - its working brilliantly tho and pain killers have been my friend. When i told the dentist he shave some bits from the aligner, which made a huge difference - but i have ulcers underneath my tongue where its catching the wire for tightening the appliance...
The cost of the treatment, for top and bottom is 3,400 which i can pay as i go... I just hope its worth all the effort over xmas and that I'll have a nice new smile :)
I'll post pictures when i'm done, as i think i've seen no tooth as bad as my worst and it might help other guys decide on whether to get it or not....
thanks for all the messages here they really inspire me when i'm feeling at my whits end!!
UPDATE:
I saw my Dentist last week. I've ordered my whitening gel which will take 2 weeks. I've to use my current clear aligner as a retainer, night times only :jump:, but no idea how long for. Not sure how long he expects me to use it like this for as I have ruined it. I think I'm trying to eat it in my sleep. lol
The fact that I have managed to destroy every clear aligner I've had up to now tells me that I'll probably be better off with a fixed retainer.
He's taking photos again when I go back on 28th so we can compare whiteness. I don't know when I will get copies of these to post to show how straighter my teeth are now, but I will post them as soon as I get them.
Any photos yet?

Re: Inman aligners
Hi everyone, iv had my Inman aligner for 1 week today. Was very painful to put in and remove at first but the pain seems to have pretty much stopped now (except front teeth too tender to chew with!). I'm
Maybe being silly but I'm worrying that the brace has stopped working since the pain has stopped? Does anyone have any experience of whether this is normal? Apart from that, I'm finding it quite easy to do the full 20 hours a day, I'm going out in it and speaking in it. I had a small amount of filing between the teeth last week which felt strange but was pain free. Enjoying reading everyone else's experiences too!

Hi Claire1987,
Regarding the pain, from my experience I can say it is normal that you don't have any after the first few days. What you should still be able to feel though is a gentle pressure on the moving teeth.
Hope it goes smoothly!

Hi Claire,
Its meant to hurt at the start, when "activating" the teeth (basically when they start to move) but after a few weeks that pain will stop. Good luck with your experience, I'm at week 5/6 now - finding it hard at the main tooth i wanted altered hasn't shirted in a while..
Keep going tho!

Re: Inman aligners
Hi all, I just thought I'd give everyone a bit of info my dentist gave me when I last saw him regarding the amount of hours the inman aligner is worn daily and how it affects treatment time. My treatment was supposed to take 8-9 weeks but I am now approaching week 16 :( so my dentist asked me how long I was wearing them during the day. As I work in a warehouse using a voice system I cant wear my inman for a few hours during the week days as my headset doesn't understand what I'm saying due to the lisp, so I told him I was wearing it a minimum of 16hours on week days and around 21hours on the weekend. He then told me that however long you don't wear it for over your estimated treatment time, you have to double that time, and thats how much extra time it will take at the end. So if you weren't to wear it for a full day then it would add 2 days to your treatment time because the teeth slip back so quickly. I hope that makes sense lol I cant remember exactly how he worded it. But to be honest I still think my treatment should be finished by now :(.
Anyway I hope everyone is having more success with theirs than I am.

Hi all
I am considering buying the inman aligner deal on groupon and wondered if anyone else had done so and if they had a lot of extra costs on top? I know I am going to need an arch expander and am worried I will find out when its too late that I have a whole heap of extra costs.
Any help much appreciated!

Re: Inman aligners
My top teeth were crowded at the front and jumped at the chance when I saw a Groupon voucher for the Inman aligner at the cost of £695 (with an extra £100 for composite stops and a further £100 (plastic)-£150 (permanent) for the retainer at the end of the treatment).
I picked up my Inman aligner yesterday at 5pm and when I woke up this morning at 7am, my teeth were UNBELIEABLY straighter. My dentist said he thought my teeth would move really really quickly, but I never thought it'd be this quick!!!
I was wearing an expander appliance for 12 weeks before this which made lots of gaps between my front 6 teeth. These gaps have pretty much disappeared over night!!!!!! Basically, if I was to stop wearing the aligner today, I would be happy with the appearance of my teeth - I can’t wait to see the final result in up to 8 weeks.
On the down side, the pain is EXCRUCIATING when taking the aligner out and putting it back in my mouth. However, the pain only lasts about a minute. There isn't much pain when the aligner is settled in my mouth, just a lot of pressure. It hurts to bite in to even the softest of foods, but its WELL worth it and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to straighten their front teeth.
I'm experiencing little, if not no problems with my speech but think this may be because I wore an expander appliance before the Inman aligner, so I’m used to having something in the roof of my mouth.
As with other posts, I agree that my top lip doesn't quite know where to comfortably sit on the front of the aligner, but I’m sure that'll get better the longer I wear it. Despite my boyfriend and work colleagues telling me the opposite, I think that I look like I’ve got duck lips as my top lip now sticks out. Hey ho, it's worth it.
I'M A HAPPY HAPPY KADI :-) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Kadi, I am about to buy the Groupon deal and know I will need an arch expander - may I ask if your dentist charged you more over the Groupon price?
Thanks :)

Re: Inman aligners
Hi totally twisted, my dentist has told me different. She says to try and wear it for 20 hours a day, apparently there's no benefit to wearing it for longer than 20 Hrs and it can be bad for the roots of the teeth if done too often. She also says if I don't manage the twenty hours on a one off occasion it's alright to make the time up the next day. Different dentists will give different advice but I would think 16 hours a day is still a good amount of time to have it in! Hope it's over soon for u!

Re: Inman aligners
Also I got the groupon deal (I'm in Glasgow though) and it cost me £995. This included the consultation, Inman aligner brace, regular dental visits and filing of teeth and the retainer at the end. An expander would have cost extra but I didn't need it, she said the cost wasn't much though. I also have a slightly rotated tooth which the Inman may not be able to fix so I might need a clear invisalign type brace at the end to pull it round and have been told this will be £150 in total. Hope this helps!

Hi claire,
Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear that your dentist has said different and I really hope she is right because I'm getting fed up with wearing this thing now, It's weird how all the dentists seem to say different things though. I thought 16 hours would be enough too but now I'm worried that I'm extending treatment time by not wearing it at work. Thank you and I hope all is going well for you and your treatment won't take quite as long as mine!
STRAIGHT TEETH NOW PLEASE!!

Iv had a bit of a problem this morning. Wonder if anyone else has any answers...on the THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR. at the front there's a white wire which runs through the middle of it...iv never actually noticed it before but today noticed mine goes halfway across then drops to the bottom of the THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR. then carries on to the end. Does anyone know if this is going to affect my aligner? Thanks
