I know it's normal, but loose teeth are freaky
I know it's normal to have loose teeth in braces, it's hard to suppress a minor feeling of worry when I can feel my teeth wiggle or creak. Does anybody else have some kind of nagging worry in the back of their head wondering if the things are just going to come out?

i love it when your teeth are loose and start clicking.
I get addicted to clicking it, then it ends, and I get sad. Until a new tooth clicks.

Re: I know it's normal, but loose teeth are freaky
Some of my teeth, especially the front lowers, were very shaky/loose a few weeks after the braces were fitted. It was a bit scary since I was afraid that if I bite down hard enough, they will just rip off the bone and fall out into my mouth To make the things worse, I was addicted to mindlessly shaking them with my tongue. I was kind of addicted to the soreness it produced?
Anyway, that phase passed and now my teeth are all firm in the bone. Yours will be too, don't worry.

Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

Re: I know it's normal, but loose teeth are freaky
I had a loose one in the beginning, and it freaked me out. I was under the impression that everything would be very gradual, but not long after they put on the braces, I noticed that they had basically pulled an incisor down by a mm or so, and it was loose now. I was really worried, and made a big deal out of it. But everyone on this site as well as at the ortho's office was really reassuring, and sure enough, the tooth re-solidified in it's new position. It almost doesn't matter what we tell you because the tooth is in your mouth and you can't help but think about it, but trust us, it will become solid again!

Omg, this is the first I've ever heard about loose teeth when having braces! Why haven't I heard of this before? Haha. Should it be obvious?
That's kind of scary to think about. I sometimes get nightmares that my teeth come loose and threaten to fall out!
Edit: Yay! My name's green. Woo, that's so much better... Hi BBCode, at last!

Yes, it is obvious. You can feel them move under pressure, wiggling, whatever; it's a perfectly normal effect of the wires moving your teeth. If the attachment ligaments didn't loosen, it'd hurt a lot more.

I've experienced this a couple times, and it's very tempting to constantly use your tongue to push the tooth back and forth and feel the little "click." It usually only lasts for a day or two though.
June 2006: Upper and Lower braces -- July 2006: RPE installed -- December 2006: RPE removed.
April 2007: 4 wisdom teeth extracted & had Frenum b/t 2 front teeth clipped. Powerchain added.
January 2008: All gaps closed.
March 2010: Began wearing elastics
January 2012: Braces finally off!

Yes I notice sometimes after adjustments my teeth get loose... I constantly moved my tongue into them just to feel them move when they are like this. I dont think they will fall out..lol
