I guess that totally depends upon where you are getting it from. People here can only give you estimates. You'll need to ask your orthodontist what they charge if you want to know for sure.
My Story — Braced on 2 March 2012. 4 premolar extractions. Ceramic/clear uppers, metal lowers. Duration of 2 years.
Currently: Third adjustment 19 June (all teeth bracketed!)

Well, I'm wondering about down the road say years or so, or if you move somewhere else and need a replacement one. Estimates are good! :)

I'm afraid I can't give an estimate as I don't know myself (in my initial consultation my ortho only mentioned to me they 'charge' and didn't say a number). I still think your best bet is to ask your orthodontist. It'll vary depending upon where you are in the world, and possibly even where you are in your country.

Hopefully some others can give you some actual numbers, but they may be quite different to any of the places you might get yours.

The cost for a hawley is between $200-$300. I'm hoping that an essex would be much cheaper to replace.

I've only had my braces removed for one week now, and one of the key things I remember while being fitted for my Essix retainer is the replacement cost of $250, ($125 per tray)

I asked a prospective Ortho in NYC what the cost of a Hawley retainer would be. I was told $900. I asked again thinking I had misheard but nope, $900.

Lizbeth, talk to someone else. To just replace an existing hawley, with no treatment involved, the rate should be between 200-300.

This is not for a replacement Hawley but a brand new one. The question was posed over the phone so that I would have an idea of what to expect post treatment. This office only includes an Essix once the braces come off. I am seeing the Ortho for an evaluation tomorrow for new braces. Thanks for the tip. I figure if I really want the Hawley I can go elsewhere for it.

That sounds about right. I think I was quoted $130 for each.

Not sure about Hawleys.
