Thank you guys!

I’m not that nervous for Friday, which surprises me. I guess I will feel it tomorrow and on Friday (not that I will make it easy for him on Friday 8) lol ). Can hardly feel my brackets any more but it will still be strange to get more brackets in my mouth.

Had the test for the LA course with my dentist today and it was a bit awkward… He was very kind and let me take it in his clinic. It was a test with 20 questions and he read through them, I could only have five of them wrong. Got every question right and I had obviously been giving some very good answers to them. He kept going on how well answered they were, I think I got a new kind of respect or something after that test. It felt so strange to sit beside my own dentist and speak about things that were not related to my mouth. I also notice that he had brown eyes, did not know that (maybe because I always keep my eyes shut when I’m there lol   ). I notice things in the clinic that I never had seen before

Klobird: if I had not had an extraction before then I would have been afraid too. I knew that I would not be worse than the surgical one or the one I had growing in my palatial (yes, I had a tooth there. Looked almost like a shark with two sets of teeth  ).

I had my fourth adjustment this time, and this time there was not even any next day soreness. It is so fun picking the ligature colors; I hope you enjoy that part :)

Hey Ebony I have Damon braces and I got to have colours (under the wire). You can always can your really cool orthodontist if he could do that for you. I am sure if he had colours at his office he could get you all coloured up if you would like. You'll do fine. You should make a blog to help out others too and post progress pictures. I have a blog and a flickr account of pictures :) Also a youtube acocunt about my braces.

Right before my appointment I got the package from klobird, it was a perfect timing. To keep the nervousness at bay while waiting in the waiting room for him to finish the pt before me I started to open it and it was a very good way to keep my mind busy. Thank you klobird, I love it! It’s my fav. colour too!

Putting the rest of the brackets on was not a problem. He explained everything he did and what tooth he was “working on”. We took a few mins break when he was finish putting them on, so I could sit up and watch myself in the mirror with the brackets on. They did not feel as strange in my mouth as those in the back did, not as big or pointy.

When it was time to put on the wire I think I did something with my face because he quickly said that we did not need to put this on today, that if I wanted to I could wait a few days. Just have the new brackets on and get use to the feeling before he put the wire in (wow, he really are putting time in this! ).

I did consider it but I ha mentally prepared myself for this today. And how many visit have I had?
1: consultation, x-rays and a look at my teeth. 2. Impressions. 3. Going through the treatment plan 4. Going through the treatment plan once more because I freaked out last time. 5. Supposed to put the brackets on and take pictures, we ended with just pictures. 6. Brackets on the back teeth. and 7. Braces.
7 visits, not bad! It had been 8 visits if I had chosen to not take the wire on. He has been so great and I knew that I would be in good hands so I told him that we could put it on today, I was ready.

So we put the wire on and for a while there I thought that I could feel it tighten more and more as he closed the doors carefully but I think it was a bit psychological when I was laying there because when he was finished I could not feel it at all. It did not feel as strange as I thought it would be.

Did not need the spring, he could put the wire on the canine. It would be normal to put the wire on the tooth beside the canine too but because it was a bit twisted towards the canine he would not do it today because that would give me a bit more pressure on that side, he wanted to give me as little discomfort as possible in the start.

I had to give him a hug when we were finish! He has done so much to help me and to make this as easy as possible for me. Did not believe that this would be possible at all! He kept telling me how good pt I had been today and how much he hoped that I would not feel any pain. I deserved a soda and some candy for this super good work ( ) so I went straight to the store to get a soda and a huge chocolate (how often does a dentist give you permission to eat candy and drink soda? )

He wanted to see me in two weeks to see how things are going and to take a look on the wire. It tends to wander a bit in the beginning and because of the canine it might wander a bit extra.

So far so good! No lisping, and are eating like I usually do. No pain yet and I hope it won’t come later

So i did it! I got braces!

Awh Ebony I simply cannot tell you how happy I am for you. This is all very excellent news. I got my wires on the same time as well. I did not have many problems. If your wire pops out of the back don't worry it literally happens to everyone even my orthodontist told me. It's even happened to me eating normal things.

My orthodontist was like talking to herself the entire time she was putting on my brackets LOL. She usually does that even when examining me. I find it quite entertaining, and I learn a lot. By the way I feel that tightening feeling everytime they open my bracket doors and close them it's no biggy.

I gave my orthodontist a huge hug the final "going over the treatment plan" day. Then she hugged me when I gave her a framed copy of the picture I took with her the day I got my braces on. She said she wants me to take an after picture with her too with my new and improved smile. I actually the day I got my braces on, gave her four glass molar vases in a giftbag with a thank you card. She told me no more gifts though because I kinda gave her like 6 gifts already LOL. But she's more than worth 6 gifts, I feel like I haven't gotten her enough for everything she's done/doing for me. But like she said I have to stop getting her gifts I think the first time was enough LOL.

My wire wanders all the time. I have to go in everyonce in a while to get it taken care of. Did you end up getting that extraction?

I have a lisp and I do not like it at all :(

Make sure you don't drink soda three hours after the brackets are put on or it could mess up the glue but after that you can drink all the soda you would like.

Thank you guys! I’m a bit proud myself, and it was a bit funny to see how glad my ortho was when the braces was on. He kept chatting about how big this was for me and so on . When he asked me for my favorite color for the tooth brushes I felt like a little kid  Greeen!

No pain so far. I can feel the tightness when I bit together but other than that I can hardly feel the braces at all. Don’t know if it’s too fast or what but it feels like one of my back molars has moved because it’s not where it’s supposed to be when I bite down. But that must be too soon, right? :Questions:

I’m a bit surprised that I’ not spending all my time on the bathroom looking at my teeth or braces, or afraid of losing a bracket while eating. One day in braces and I’m already starting to forget than I’m having them on

BSS: He did not tell me anything about that. Maybe he is using some different kind of glue? He did not use all that stuff as often showed on Youtube. The glue must be good because I have been eating all kinds of hard things with the back brackets on without one of them falling off

My general dentist tends to hum with the music on the radio and I had to smile when my ortho started to do the same yesterday. Good to hear that you got a cool ortho as well. It makes such a different  . But why do you only see your ortho every third month? We got the same braces and I need to see him every 5. week  :Questions:

I might get a lisp when I get both my braces on

You're welcome cool on the green toothbrush :)

With Damon braces everything happens so quickly I had that happen to me. I have elastics to fix it as well as my overbite.

I love looking at my braces.

Lucky! If i were you I woulda drank soda ASAP.

Oh absoluetly, it makes a HUGE difference and makes the experience so fun. Maybe that is why I love my braces so much. Because I love going there so much. I think it's because shes knows I travel really far 3 hours to get to her office on a traffic day, 2 hours on a non traffic day. But Once september rolls around Ill be in a new school in a new location much closer to her office. The First appointment intervals were every 6 weeks now its evert 7 weeks.

The lisp isnt that bad at all.
