Does having Braces make you feel cool?

I feel like super cool in these braces. In fact Id feel even cooler if we stuck to the original herbst appliance with braces instead of poohy elastics. I think the fact that it looks like I am hiding something in thar makes me feel cooler. I say the more metal it looks like there is in my mouth the cooler I feel, thats why I am kinda sad that I don't have those "hunk of junk" traditional ones they are soo cool. I have Damon and it barely looks like a braet is on my tooth LOL.

I dont know if I can say it makes me feel cool. I'm 30 in March and have only had mine 4 weeks 29, I feel proud to have made the decision later in life. Whilst most of my friends are getting married and kids and houses, I honestly feel my teeth have held me back in life. So whilst I work hard and have the cash, I thought it's now or never. I didn't wanna still look in the mirror at 40 and not like what I see.

My teeth are a major dent to my self confidence, so it was time to stop whinging about it and fix it.

Well, when my 4 year old newphew saw my picture with them he said "Cool" - but that's not how I'd describe them.

Would I describe a knee brace as 'cool' - not usually. A wheel chair? Not usually (though I have commented to people with super-decorated chairs or something cool ABOUT their chair that the feature was cool). An arm cast? No (though the color may be 'cool')

They're a dental/medical device that I need to improve my health/maintain my quality of life.

At 47 I'm way past worrying what other people may think of my medical devices.

No, I just feel gross and dorky. At first I was embracing the process, but then I started wearing elastics and that did me in. It's hard to feel cool when you've got elastics at the front of your mouth and people can't understand what you're saying. Counting down the months until they're off...

LOL but that's the thing, I don't care what other people think just in my own little world I feel cooler with the braces LOL Although I don't feel cool to say I've had 8 surgeries, and kidney disease. I think wheelchairs are neat. My one year old nephew tried pulling my braces off at one point. But failed. I used to think braces would make me awkward but they in fact have improved my self esteem thus making me feel cool. I do have a slight lisp which sounds funny. LOL But I am the only person out of 325 employees at my store that has braces, and the funny thing is, they all think they're cool.

I wouldn't say by any stretch they make me feel cool, but I like braces and dislike retainers!

I loved my wife's smile before, and now she has braces, it's even more amazing to me.
I like the fact that they're fixing her TMJ issues as well and of course I think she's just ulta-cool!!

Maybe part of it is the fun-factor, even though many more adults these days have braces than before, it's still not near as common as teens. I always knew I was just a big 40ish year old kid.

My braces make me feel cool. I love what they're doing to my teeth and my confidence has shot through the roof. I will miss them when they're gone. I think the only time I dislike them is when I have an adjustment and my teeth ache for a few days but hey, it's all apart of the process. :p

AM21 i agree with you 100 percent. I am supposed to have braces for 30 months as well, but knowing my orthodontist, it is probably going to be 4-5 years. YAY for me. Literally.

BSS- I'm 34 and i'm ok with having braces, but tired already of the aggravation of having them. I'll be cool when I get these things off.

The only thing that bothers me about the braces is the floss issue but aside from that I love having them. I even like feeling pressure on my teeth because it means they are working.

I think mine are cool too. Partly this is because it is a big deal to finally get it done (I'm 44) and partly they seem very youthful to me and I love that! The only part I really dislike is the expander, though I'm learning to cope :)

Uhm, no. LOL I'm 28, married with 2 kids. I feel like people constantly stare at my mouth when I'm talking now. When I finally get these stupid bite turbos off, I think I will feel much better because I won't have a horrible lisp anymore. That is really the worst part for me.
