Damaging your splint with hot food?

#1 Post by pa1n »

Just curious to know what the chances are of damaging my splint with hot food like soup, congee, broth, porridge etc. Most of my meals are best served hot but im not sure if its a better idea to let my food cool down a bit each time.

My splint at the moment feels a bit wobbly, is this normal? im at day 5.

Thanks

If it won't burn your mouth, I can't imagine it'll damage your splint.

Mine wasn't damaged because of hot foods (liquids :) ), but the heavy spiced/seasoned soups did! Somehow it infused itself in my splint and left a horrid, lingering taste in my mouth. I had this carrot ginger soup and tomato soup - never again. Aside from being wired shut, I would say that THAT was the worst part. I tried everything to get the taste out, but all attempts only provided temporary relief. Imagine crushing altoids and trying to get powder between my wired mouth - unsuccessful!
