Awww geez! Now saying I can't fix it" is a bit silly though because actually you totally CAN, boys!

See now I too have to sit here and go "gosh I do have a spot on guy" because when I'm in a bit of mouth pain, he'll make me a bowl of ice cream to take said pain away, or give me a hug to make me feel better, or ask me if there's anything I need. That makes me feel loved which in turn does an awful lot to ease the discomfort! :)

Similarly when he's had a rough day doing something physical which he CHOSE to do, I'll give him a back rub. If his feet are aching because he's CHOSEN to be on his feet all day, I will give him a foot rub. If he's stressed out, I will listen to him because I don't want him internalizing those bad feelings - that can lead to stress, increased risk of stroke, heart disease and so on over the long term. I want him with me as long as possible! :)

So then you have a situation where both people are basically saying "I care about your feelings and I'm your buddy - I'm here for you." Which in turn means less stress, more smiling, happiness and harmony - and who wouldn't want that? :)

I hasten to add that my guy is by any standards a "manly man" - he likes target practice, archery, hunting, fishing, boating, outdoor sports, motorcycle and he's a trucker by trade (and a handsome, funny, naughty flirt!). So, even "tough guys" can pull this nurturing stuff off! :P
Proud mama, graphic designer, writer and editor, working toward increased self sufficiency with my man, my little girl and my wits about me! Adios, jumbly teeth; hello happy smile! :)
