So from looking at the many pictures of teeth and braces, I was under the impression that it was common to have your metal bands placed on the First Molar. I go in 2 weeks from now to have spacers put back in my mouth because the ortho is moving bands to my Second Molar's and putting brackets on the First Molar. Is this common?
I am definitely not looking forward to round 2 of spacers to prepare for this change, but I know it shouldn't be as painful. Same day that I get new bands, I'm also getting my rubber bands. Lucky girl.

I think it just really depends on the mouth and the treatment needed, personally I don't have any bands on my molars just brackets... I hope it goes smoothly for you

No idea but would be good to know the answer. To be honest, i don't even know what the bands are for
I started with mine on my first molar but then at the third adjustment they added molar bands to my second molars too so I now have four on both arched.

Re: Moving Bands from First Molar to Second Molar
I have both sets of molars banded from the very beginning, and I will have to have the wisdom teeth also banded closer to the end. I don't see the reason why not bond all the molars, they are functional teeth and do all the chewing??? If molars don't occlude correctly, how can anything be functional?
I myself was very happy to have the 2nd molars bonded as well. Anyway, if your ortho thinks it is necessary, you have to do it. This is not that uncommon as one may think.

Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.
