5 weeks in and still in pain

#1 Post by jessieg »

I got my braces on five weeks ago. People told me they would be sore for maybe a week or two, and they still hurt! I can't bite in the slightest on the front teeth, and it seems like every day a new tooth hurts. Is this normal? I am supposed to get my wires changed in 4 weeks and I can't imagine anyone even touching them right now!

That's NOT normal. I had an adjustment and she said 4-7 days. So I called her on the 8th day in a lot of pain and she told me it's NOT normal that she'd like to see me in her office. You should all yours, sounds like you need an eval.

The pain is different for everyone. I haven't been able to use my front teeth since getting braces three months ago. Other teeth hurt on and off as well. Still, you should call your ortho just to be sure.

Sorry to hear that. I have had mine on for 5 days and havent felt an ounce of pain. Of course I cant really bite with the front teeth but no pain what so ever. Everyone is just different. Pain is beauty. Hang in there

It's perfectly normal and means things are moving quickly for you.

It will get better, you will have a rollercoaster of pain where sometimes you can't feel a thing and others it hurts to bite into food.. people have different pain levels and also different pain thresholds.
Brace Date: 14th April 2011

That's normal don't worry at all ,, I couldn't bite normally until the 8 th week and only now after 3 months I'm able to eat everything except for those hard food.
The pain is normal cuz there is a pressure on each tooth to make it move , 4 weeks from now things will be much better . Every time you will feel a different pain and im afraid that you have to get used to it :|

Let us know how it goes with you
