Never getting braces off :/

#1 Post by libertymarissa »

At least that's how it feels. I was supposed to get my braces off in early May but couldn't because I wasn't happy with the placement of one tooth. My ortho had some personal issues that took her out of the office so I wasn't able to see her at my scheduled times which resulted in my appts. being pushed all over the place. Finally was able to see ortho and she tries to correct my issues by putting on the largest wire she has. It helps a little but not entirely. Finally, at last weeks appt. (where I was supposed to be fitted for a retainer), I still was not happy with the placement of this one tooth. She suggested that I either allow her to make a retainer to continue moving the tooth or she could just rearrange the brackets. I allowed her to rearrange the brackets. Now a week later I still don't think that tooth has moved any. I realize it has only been a week but it is starting to feel as if I will never get these things off. If things aren't better the next time I go for an appt. I think I will ask for the clear retainer just so I can get the brackets off.

Hang in there. A few more months of brackets will be worth it for the great smile you will have for decades.

Be strong!

I know exactly how you feel. I was supposed to get my braces off after 18 months and it is coming up 36 months now.
My ortho has been trying to take them off for a few visits now but im still not happy about one gap that is still open.
It doesnt seem to be closing at all and Im getting to the point where im just going to get them off and not be completely happy

libertymarissa, we are in a same boat. I am not happy too with the placement of one of my tooth. What's wrong with that tooth?

i was told 18 months. have reached that now, but looking at the gaps, midline and bite, it will be a while yet before i can even dream of being brace free. still it will be worth it, just a little frustrating.

Hang in there, you're almost there. Try to find things to take your mind off of it, so you don't think about it. I went over my time too. And luckily on my last visit my technician was really nice and told me to book my debanding without official word from the ortho, because they fill up quick and otherwise I'd have to get them off in Sepetember.

So before getting the final ok to take them off from my ortho, I booked it and thankfully when I went it, he said ok. So now I get them off in 2 weeks, but I went over my treatment time as well.
