Can't believe it ,, 2 months since got braces on

My appointment to extract my infected wisdom tooth went sooo good ,, i was too nervous about the extraction but my ortho gave me another option other than extracting
he asked me first if i feel any pain with my tooth ,, and i said no i have taken the antibiotics And it's all good,, so he asked if I want to extract it or keep it until we finish the Braces treatment and see if I need to extract it by then . I have to say that all wisdom teeth are almost erupted .
So the option was to cut the piece of the gum that was covering this tooth and caused the infection .. He explained " every time you open your jaw widely to eat ,this piece of gum moves upward uncovering the tooth and minor soft pieces of food will get there between the gum and the tooth , where when you close your jaw again , the food will stuck there causing bacteria and then an infection ,, now by cutting this gum there won't be any food stuck and no bacteria"

So I'm ok with all that .. Cuz I'm really scared of extracting my tooth :(

It's not painfull at all he numbed the area and just cut the gum .. Within 3 minutes and I was done ...

#2 adjustment today 16 May

I have to travel next week so I had to go today for the adjustment ,, which almost I don't consider an adjustment ,, I only had my ligature changed (still in the clear ones  )
No wires adjustment or tightened I didn't even have my expander adjusted as promised last time .

I guess my ortho changed the plan , and so he gave me another appointment within 3 weeks to have new archwire.

I am so happy with the progress my crossbite is getting better

#3 adjustment on 6 June 2012

During this adjustment I got my ligature changed , and as usuall my ortho changed the plan . Sometimes I feel he just plan randomly !!

He didn't replace the archwire , he gave me elastics which I have to wear all day long . To close the gaps between the upper and lower arch and to fix the bite.

4 elastics :upper canine to lower canine and upper first premolar to lower first premolar . 2 days so far in elastics and they are sooo painful I just wear them at night :|

What bothers me is that he was supposed to start with uprighting my lower right second molar !! Which I feel will need time to do :(

Next appointment is in 4 weeks.

Hope every one is doing great !!

Thanks for passing by Lau.

My TMJ was all good for the past 6 weeks and I was like wow it seems the braces Are making a good impact , but yesterday it decided to come back ! It kills. Even with a pain killer it doesn't even slow down.

I believe chewing hard is also a factor that made TMJ worse ! I was eating With one side of the mouth trying not to chew with my loose teeth on the left side for almost a week now. And my ortho said that eating with one side puts a pressure on the muscle of the other side of the jaw

#5 adjustment on 1st august 2012

So during this appointment I talked to my ortho about how I feel about wearing the braces and that I hope to have my upper braces removed by next month if possible, I know though my teeth won't be perfect but it is really hard for me to handle them for more couple of months :( i also had to convince him that my front teeth is not straight anymore like how it was at the beginning and that are positioned like this ( |/ ) but he couldn't see that , what he saw is that one of them is longer than the other , which was true , one of them was already longer than the other but after the right central incisor moved it looked more longer and it was so obviuos , he gave me a mirror to explain for him and when he finally was able to see that he said that he will reposition the bracket to fix that . He was very understanding this time .

He started by replacing the lower archwire , and then he repositioned the bracket On the right central incisor .
I think he has sharpen the tooth to look shorter , I noticed this when I returned back.

And he asked me to come in 2 weeks to check on my upper teeth , and then to close the gaps and have the braces for the upper arch removed by the coming month.

I'm so excited to remove the upper braces , but by that time I will ask him if he still see that there are some improvements that can be done I will give it some time and will try to handle it for another month.

#appointment on 15 august 2012

I had power chain put on my upper teeth , from the right centeral incisor to the right first premolar , to close the gap that was developed between the right centeral incisor And lethal incisor .and to pull the front teeth to the right in order to fix the midline.

Next adjustment is in another 2 weeks .

My ortho is refusing to commit for any estimate to taking them off :-=

I am very nagging loool I believe that's why he is avoiding any promises , I am not looking for the perfectness of my teeth otherwise it will take longer than I want .
But I think for my upper braces no more than 2 months to be off .? Or I hope !

My lower :Questions: I don't know ,I am starting to lineup my second left molar which he didn't included in the plan from the beginning but after all my reading and research on braces topics , I insisted to fix this molar and finally he is convinced , I beleive it will take 5 months or so !

I got the separator yesterday , back to pain again , I almost forgot the braces pain

How is your progress going so far Elizabith ?

Noni~
Well that ornery lower incisor that was refusing to play with the others has finally been beaten into submission. My lowers are getting pretty straight now. (at least compaired to what they were before) I have a third wire on my uppers, this one is still rectangular like the second one but is a bit thicker. The uppers were sore for a couple of days but since I haven't seen any change really. My lowers are due for a new wire at my next visit. They didn't say what size but I heard the ortho say it was going to be a steel wire, and that we would be using elastics to bring together my number 6 and number 27 canines. (they are open now because of the bite turbos, go figure, I had a deep bite before now I have an open bite LOL)

I still have three weeks until my next adjustment so maybe I will see some changes again soon, but right now it feels like I'm watching paint dry...LOL :)

As far as I know my original 24 month sentence is still in effect but it might take a little longer as they were expecting these stubborn lowers to be straight much faster then they actually took.

Elizabeth , wow you have been in braces for 6 months now , and I'm too close , can you beleive how time go fast .

I know how it feels when you cant see any movement , but it diffently going to move :gavel:
What is steel wire ? seems like strong one that would put a pressure for movements .
bigeyed1 wrote:How much did your braces cost??

Arround 3000$. Or until I finish I can say the exact cost
