Yes it is....Im surprised at how quickly tho...Sad to say but i miss it :(
Actually i told my ortho that i wanted to keep my diastema (Of course smaller than it was in the beginning, more around where it is now)
I like it and it runs in my family apparently..lol my mom has one and most of her sisters have one...I like how it looks...

But alas my ortho told me that bcuz of how large mine was leaving any spaces will definitely cause my teeth to revert back to the original position (which i DO NOT WANT AT ALL) So no diastema for me :(
Honestly its hard to picture my smile without the diastema..................Sighs so we'll c....I guess the ortho knows best....At least i'll have a great smile in the end none the less...

I know what you mean. I can't really imagine what my teeth will look like when I'm done with braces because I can't imagine my front teeth without a gap between them. I've had it for as long as I can remember. I only became self-conscious of my diastema when I was made fun of for it in middle school. Truly the rest of the things that are wrong with my teeth bother me much more than the gap, but I think it's all or nothing once I get braced.

It will take some getting used to, but I'm sure you will love your perfect smile

Well that's the thing......

I was never made fun of for that space..Actually its the opposite...

Here in the Caribbean its sort of a cool thing to have a midline diastema on ur upper arch.......

Like there are even people who will date someone bcuz of their smile (wid a diastema)

I know its crazy....but its our culture....

But thats not the reason i wanted to keep mine...I jus always tort of it as a family trait....
Oh well........

Nikki

Good to hear your midline diastema is closing quickly with the Powerchains.

My teeth aren't as flared and are looking more upright so I'm hoping that I get powerchains at my appointment later in the month-I am desperate for my diastema to close, as I find the appearance of my teeth so depressing and the main cause of me having no self esteem. Diastemas run in my family (Mum, Grandad) but I will feel so much better about myself when I have a nice smile that I will feel confident about.

Well brave urself.......bcuz powerchains is exactly that!

From the moment the 1st link goes on and is stretched to the next bracket, u can feel the pressure! I got an instant headache from just having them put on.

But hey atleast they work! And in my opinion they work fast.......

Honestly I was concerned about how my teeth stick out more than closing the diastema. I mean the other gaps were mmy 2nd concern.
I jkis wanted the midline to be closed a bit...
I don't tink having a diastema makes a smile imperfect or ugly.....I prefer it.....but my ortho said it wud leave from 4 my teeth 2 move back into its original place. And I don't want that.....sighs.

Ok........So had my 2nd adjustment today...

It went well.. Didnt get a new wire. Changed my ligs and put a power chain link to close my extraction gap...FINALLY...

So i guess he's satisfied about how things are going that he decided to start to close the extraction gap....

I think im getting used to the braces. I had a regular lunch today...Felt pressure putting on the power chain to the front (as usual)
But eating was not as bad as after the 1st adjustment....thankfully.

Well here are some progress pics. I matched the colour ligs to my work outfit i was wearing today :D
Im satisfied with the progress thus far....:D

Day one in braces
Day 27 in first day in powerchains
Last 2 pics are from today :D

Nikki

They are looking fantastic-can't believe how quickly your powerchains have worked!

I think your diastema is a similar size to mine now-Just waiting for my powerchains and then I will see the real progress :-)

Powerchains causing much pain? If painful, is it taking long fir pain to go away?

The powerchains is a lot of pressure..
First day I got them I got a headache from applyin it.
But by day 2 I was pretty much used 2 it.

This is my 3rd set of power chains and I am not so much in pain.

I notice them but its not any disabling pain.
I never had 2 take pain pills.

Idk about ur pain threshold but mine isn't that high.

Wid a diastema that small hopefully u'd get urs closed up in no time.

Hi Nikki,
Yes, I'll definitely let you know what he says.
I can't see your new up-to-date pictures :-( for some reason.

but by the moments that take your breath away.

Aww too bad u can't see them.

I think u'd be pleased at the progress in such a short time that u'd be willing 2 get them.
