Hi Ozzy,

Oh no! Sorry to hear the wire is giving you so many problems.
Yes, mine are six teeth with composite blobs holding the wire in place. I have to say, so far, they have been absolutely fine and I have got used to them already. I don't even play with it with my tongue anymore.
I haven't noticed food getting stuck either, I was expecting that aspect to be worse, but honestly it hasn't been a problem at all.
Hopefully fingers crossed yours will be all sorted once it has been re-glued (again!)
Keep me posted how you get on

Thanks Badbear,
I had the wire re glued but have since noticed..... well, at least I think I have noticed that 2 teeth have ever so slightly moved forward. Maybe that is why the wire kept coming un glued due to movement??
I am very concerned about this at the moment & keep looking & taking photos to determine if I am imagining this or not?
I received a call from the dentist yesterday to inform me that my IA for my botton teeth has gone missing in transit. I was due to have it fitted this coming Monday.
They are going to call again on Monday with an update.
The problem with this is if the IA arrives after my scheduled appt then I have to wait up to 2 weeks for next availbale appt.
I think that is wrong because it is no fault of my own so I believe they should fit me in sooner!
Oh well, looks like another roller coaster few months ahead.
When I go in to have that fitted I will mention my concern about movement.
Will keep u posted
Cheers :)

Hi Ozzy,
I thought I was imagining my front teeth had moved forward too- but I think it was my mind playing tricks!
For that reason, that's why I still do not regret paying extra to get an
Invisalign type retainer made as well- just for my peace of mind.
I'm currently whitening my teeth at home- I wear the trays at night whilst Im sleeping - as recommended by my dentist. I have had 2 nights. It is only 10% strength but my teeth are feeling quite sensitive. Did you experience this? How Many days did you whiten for?
I know it is a bonus- but I don't know if I can bothered to go through more teeth trauma!!

Tigerlily, I wouldn't worry. My teeth all moved at different times, the most protrusive being the last. The dentist may use certain techniques through your treatment to help certain teeth move eg putting a composite blob on a particular tooth to get the IA bar to sit in the position needed to move a tooth or my dentist even 'sanded' down the inner part if my IA on the front bar so that the IA was only pushing on one tooth. Im sure by the end of your treatment all of the teeth needed will have moved into the correct position.

Ozzy it is very worrying to hear that you think your teeth have moved slightly with the wire! Do you also have a retainer to wear at nights? My dentist told me I would have my wire and also wear my IA every night for a few months then reduce it down to a couple of nights a week for the rest of my life! Maybe if you did that (if not already doing so) your teeth might not move. If your not doing that I would definitely ask your dentist about doing it or about getting a retainer made cos its a lot of money to pay for your teeth to move afterwards even slightly. I hope you get it sorted :-)

My update...Im now at 11 weeks 2 days. Slightly disappointed that the past 2 appointments I have had at dentist i have not had any filing done. I only have a small amount of movement needed which im sure would happen if the filing was done inbetween 2 teeth. However when i went yesterday I asked but my dentist only wanted to give me a clean and the time before that was just for a general dentists check to check all of my teeth (apparently I need a root canal after my treatment is over!) Im still so happy with the process but just getting sick of waiting for this final movement but i feel that the teeth are locked and cannot move until they have the space created. So I am booked in for a week on Wednesday to have my moulds taken for my whitening. However my worry is that my teeth will still not be done (since no filing) so hopefully if i get them filed too they will move into position (which is good) but then when the whitening trays come they will then not fit. Im just getting myself all stressed but i will speak to dentist when i go and tell her my concerns and maybe just ask for filing and to get the trays done a week later or something.

Anyway sorry for the essay! Hope everyone else doing ok. (Just literally remembered i dreamt last night that i was watching the tv and 3 famous people had an IA in lol. Must have the brace on the brain!

Speak soon xxx

Hi Badbear
I am pretty sure my teeth have moved but it is soooo slight that it is hard to be 100%. As long as they dont move any further I can live with how they r, they r so much better than what they used to be!
I whitened for 10 days.
It was recommended that I purchase a tube of GC Tooth Mousse, it is a 35ml tube & cost me $30. It helps prevent sensitivity.
I apply for 5 mins then wait half hour before whitening then apply again for 5 mins after whitening then wait another half hour before being able to eat or drink.
The only sensitivity I experienced was on the 10th day & it was so slight on the tip of one tooth.
I actually whitened again yesterday & have just applied the mousse again ready to do it again today just as a top up :)

I was saying to my Fiance this morning that I think my problem is that I expected absolute perfection for my final result but realistically the dentist can only work with the teeth that I have.
A bit like going to the hairdresser & requesting a particular style, it may not look exactly how u wanted because u didnt have the right hair for that style to start with.
I still spend a lot of time looking at my teeth & criticising little things because they r not perfect but what I need to do is realise that compared to what they were, they r now pretty close to perfect.
Short of having teeth pulled & falsey's or replaced with all veneers I think they look as good as they can :)

Hi Sassy,
I am not doing anything extra apart from the wire retainer.
My IA wouldnt fit to my teeth now anyway as the temp filling I had on my broken tooth was a totally different shape to the crown that I hav in place now.
I believe that if my teeth do move any further that it will be up to the dentist to rectify it at no cost to me! (well at least I would hope so)
I know how u feel about the waiting when u r so close, It was very frustrating.
I really stressed myself out leading up to the end, also worrying about having impressions for retainer & crown taken too early that wouldnt fit but it all worked out.
I remember saying to to dentist "if only I could see the future & be able to see the final result, I wouldnt hav had so many sleepless nights worrying"
Has ur dentist mentioned anything about the final movement?
If she has u booked in for the whitening tray mould then she must be convinced that the movement will be complete by then?
Definitely tell her your concerns.

Have any of u sent a PM on here? I tried sending one to NikkleNikki as she hasnt been on here for a while & I am concerened about her.
My msg is still sitting in my outbox saying it was sent but nothing in my sent messages

I live in Oregon (US) and I heard about inman aligners years ago. I know the inman website used to have a list of uncertified providers but now they only posts certified ones...and there are none here in Oregon. Anyone know how 'fast' inman aligners are developing in the US? There doesnt seem to be many certified providers in the US :( and most people here have no idea what they are. Just wondering how long i'll have to wait til I can finally get them here...

Hi All,
I had my bottom aligner fitted on Monday & hav to say I was pleasantly surprised. It is barely noticable inside & out.
My speech is barely affected (a slight lisp only)
It is really painful to put back in after eating but I know that will pass in a few days.
It has cut under my tounge but I have since put some dental wax on the area & now it is ok.

Badbear & Sassy, before I got to mention to the dentist about my suspected movement he noticed it himself!
He said because the retainer wasnt glued back the same day on both occasions, that of course the teeth will move as they r not set in concrete!
He didnt offer to re straighten but is going to fill the slight gap that appeared with some porcelain.
I am a little disappointed by this & very paranoid about the retainer coming unglued & more movement happening.
I will discuss the option of a spare mouthguard type retainer for emergencies but not looking forward to the extra cost.

Biscuits...sorry but I cant help u there as I am from Australia but goodluck finding what u need :)

Ozzy its great to hear your bottom aligner is not causing you too many problems :D Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for you.

I like what you said about expecting a perfect smile but realizing that you need to be realistic and understand your dentist can only work with what youve got. I feel that my expectations have been too high and i should take a leaf out of your book. For eg I was panicking that the last bit of filing i had done between 2 teeth, the gap has not closed up. I was really gutted about it but in all honestly its only obvious if someone was to look close up at my teeth. I need to appreciate how great my teeth actually are now compared to what they were at the start as to anyone else, im sure people would think my teeth were great.

My dentist didnt really say much at my last appointment but she wants to do my whitening moulds a week today (my next appt). I am going to ask her to just file between 2 of my teeth and im sure they will line up straight away and ask if i can get my moulds done the week after. Im 12 weeks tomorrow which was my estimated treatment time but i dont mind going over if its going to give me a better finish.

Biscuits, I live in the UK so do not know but maybe you could phone around some dentists and ask if they do the Inman Aligner. I dont even know if my dentist is certified or not. Hope you get some answers.

Take care everyone xxx

Hey biscuits, I'm in the US too (North New Jersey) and never heard of the Inman Aligner till I was doing research on ways to straighten my front teeth without braces or Invisalign. Invisalign of course is very popular in the ol US of A at the moment and seemed like the only option if I wanted to not wear metal braces. I had 2 consultation for them and the cost ranged from 3500 to 5300...and one dentist said 6 months and the other said a year. The vastly different consults plus the fact that Invisalign involves more than just popping in a clear retainer made me decide to see if I could find something else.

I stumbled on this board about 4 months ago and read a lot and followed peoples stories and progress and of course noticed that everyone seemed to be outside the US. I went on the Iman website to see if it was available in the US and I'm very lucky to live in the New York City Tri- State area because most everything is available here if it's available somewhere in the world. There were a few dentist listed in New Jersey and in NYC and I chose a NYC dentist because it was close to my job in downtown NY.

The consult went great and I started my aligned about 6 weeks ago, I was quoted 3 months for 1500. I was fine with that price because everything is expensive in my area and there aren't that many in the US that do this, most never even heard of it! My teeth problem isn't that sever so I havent needed any of a lot of the work people on here have had done though when I was first getting it inserted I did get sand paper between my front two teeth and got blobs placed on the back of two teeth. I have the space to move so there has been no other shavings done.

The first week and a half was very painful, I had moments of doubt if I was going to be able to wear it enough to have it work lol. It didn't hurt when in my mouth but hurt the most when trying to put it back in after eating. I had to give myself more time before reinserting because the pain was intense on one tooth in particular that was getting a lot of the pressure in the beginning and sometimes once I took it out I didn't want to put it back in lol. Around the 2 week mark things started to get vastly more easy and I started seeing great progress and movement in my teeth, it no longer hurt to reinsert the aligner and I could visably see my front two teeth were straighter. My appointments to asses progress have been great, 5 minutes in and out where she congratulates me on being a great patient lol. She told me to wear it 24 hours but I get no where near that cause I knew you people on here didnt wear it that much and had great results. I just make sure to wear it when I sleep, that's a easy 8 hours, and I wear before bed and through the morning. My time during the middle of the day with it in varies on what's going on. I say I average about 15 hours, sometimes I'm really good and get more.

I'm moving soon to Washington, DC but it's not far or hard to get back home to see the dentist. In my last appointment, since she knew I was leaving soon, she tightened the aligner and I was scared I was in for more pain but it's been fine, it's just a little harder to get in. She set my next appointment for a month from now so I won't have to come back and forth so much and so soon. She thinks I may be done at that point and she will make the mold for my clear retainer! Woot! I can't wait.

For all those just starting, take the plunge and give it a try. The first week will be the toughest of the whole thing then you get used to it. Read as much of this board to prepare, it will provide you with every possible scenerio amd outcome of getting the Aligner. For those in the US not in a major tri state area or near a huge city, try and find the nearest dentist and make the drive or take the train, it will be worth the effort. You can space out your appointments so you don't have to travel so often.

Peace good luck everyone.

Hi. I have spent the last few days looking through websites and forums about Inman Aligners. I had Inman Aligners fitted on Monday (4 days ago), I am now a 43 year old brace face. It has been great reading peoples reviews. I have not had too much pain, just when putting the braces back in. I could cope with the braces more if I didn't have trouble speaking. Having to explain to the salesman when going to buy some new furniture that I can't talk because "I have braces" is a little embarrassing. I am hoping that it is true that speech improves after a couple of weeks. I have been told that my work should take about 10 weeks. My front two teeth are very crooked and one side protrudes more than the other. I have an appointment to go back to the dentist in just over a week. Other than straight teeth I am also losing weight as I am not able to snack inbetween meals. I am wearing it about 22 hours a day. I'm definitely looking forward to a nice smile

Hello all,

I am new to the site but have been following this thread for quite a while now. The amazing results achieved by the people here have prompted me to finally look into getting the inman aligner. So I have had one consultation and despite the dentist saying I was a mild case, he sent my moulds off to the lab, and some weeks later said that I was suitable although I would only get limited results, and perhaps I should consider fixed braces. I am not not sure whether to get a second opinion or to just forget the whole thing. Have any of you guys had more than one consultation where the dentist gave different opinions regarding the results that could be achieved with the inman?

I'm not sure about what a mild case is. My teeth were definitely a case that would benefit getting the inman. It becomes a very expensive do if you are having to pay for consultations but hopefully somebody on this forum could give you some advice.

Hi bluey

I myself was told i was a very mild case too. My top 4 teeth protude and i had a gap between them. Im 33 and have wanted a brace for more than 10 years. Im told my teeth werent that bad however i felt i resembled Mater from cars and finally in May i plucked up the courage to have a consultation for the Invasalign. I was told i would need it top and bottom for a year as i needed to move 'all' of the teeth in my mouth in order to get results. It would also cost me nearly £5 grand. All i wanted was to move the 4 front teeth that stuck out back slightly and didnt want to move 'all' my teeth so a week later i went back and asked if i was a candidate for the Inman Aligner. They told me no.
I researched a few other dentists to see who was offering free consulations on the IA (as i was relunctant to pay a consultation fee to be told the same). I managed to find one and they took screen shots of me and worked it on their computer and said yes they felt it would work but also took moulds to send off to the lab to see what the results could be. They came back positive and 6 weeks ago i got my IA.

Although it has been a slow start for me (teeth only started moving last week) i can see the gaps have closed and my teeth dont protude out as much. I feel the end is still so far away but the reason for my post is to say get a second opinion most definately as you just dont know.

where are you? Im in the UK.
