Countdown to being de-braced ;)

#1 Post by Kirsten2011 »

Hello All,
I finally got the news I have been waiting for from my orthondontist for weeks now.... in my last two appointments he has been telling me that its nearly time for my braces to come off...... and with the last appointment he confirmed that its looking as best as it can be and that we are ready to move on!!!!!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!! :D :) 8) :P
So excited!!
The date to be de-braced has been set for 10am on 25 September. Perfect timing as the day before that is in fact a public holiday here in South Africa and I will take leave for 25 September so its a long weekend for me :)
The final colours I went with are blue and metallic blue, and for the lower set I still have a powerchain. My bite is 100% perfect, there is no pain or discomfort and proud to say I still have left over wax that I have never used!! Hee, hee!!
For my after treatment, I have chosen permanent retainers top and bottom and I will also be given Thermo Essix Retainers top and bottom to wear at nights and on weekends if at home, etc. Knowing me I may as well wear them to work anyway :)
So..... what seemed like a LONG journey to start off with when my wires were first fitted is quickly coming to an end. Even the staff at the Dr's office can't believe how quickly its gone by. My Dr has predicted around 20 months and we are just short of that.
Impressions were taken of my top and lower teeth at the last appointment so all will be ready by then. The sad part is that I have to pay for the retainers upfront due to all the lab fees involved. Sigh! For middle of the month, its quite a bit of money to part with but I have no choice. Our health insurance here in South Africa does not cover orthdontic treatment at all. :(
To those still waiting to get braced, dont put it off. Its a great journey that will be over before you know it! The results are amazing and a great boost to ones self esteem. So happy I did it!

Cheers for now :) xxx
