Hi all

#1 Post by Ceramic »

Hello everyone, Im 24 and I got 2 premolars(the ones right next to my canines extracted on 27th Oct. Mine is a case of crowding and an overbite of 7mm on my upper jaw. I opted for ceramics though the Orthodontist insisted on metal ones..

So I got the brackets on yesterday and the wire would be put in place on Wednesday..
Though the teeth on my lower jaw seem fine, My orthodontist wanted braces put on those as well. so here I am, with twelve brackets (six on each jaw) placed on my front /visible teeth..

I've been reading some of the posts in this forum and found them really helpful. I felt like I was walkin into darkness, but now, I kind of know whats in store in the months to come. Im really glad I found this forum :)

I forgot to mention a couple of things:
My Ortho said that the gaps wouldn't close completely as my overbite is not that huge. so he'd put crowns on the teeth next to the extraction to fill the remaining gap after all this is over.. :?
He'z going to reduce the overbite by 5mm and leave a 2mm distance between my upper jaw and lower jaw.. well, thats when he said hez going to stop the movement of the teeth. :GapToothed:
I ve got two crooked front teeth, so is that going to increase the time duration for the gaps to close to the "required extent"?
and how long would it take for these gaps to close? I know I should be asking my dentist these questions. But I thought I could get some inputs from my seniors here
