I changed from ceramic top to metal top. Super happy about it too!
I was given Chlorahexadin oral rinse which STAINED not only my teeth badly, but all the ceramics (or rather the adhesive which showed through). My orthodontist removed the clear ceramics, buffed my teeth, scrubbed them some more with pumice and then put on the metal.

I like the metal because they are tiny - much smaller than the ceramics and do not sit out far from my teeth. The ligatures to tie them are usually silver and blend in nicely. In all - it looks great and I just wish I would've gone this way in the first place.
Braces on June 21, 2012
Original estimate 18 to 24 months.
Ceramic uppers Replaced Sept. 19, 2012 with metal
