I paid up front. Didn't see the point of monthly payments when I had the money and could pay it then. The practice is very well established so the odds of them going bankrupt are slim. If they did decide to close down the practice I believe they would offer partial refunds to clients.

The discount seems too small to risk it esp since offices close and or people die. So if for some reason, God forbid you needed a new ortho because yours died and they're doing work you don't like, you'd be wasting it. I would put it away in case of an emergency where say you or your spouse Go forbid lost a job and money to pay them was tight, you'll always have the money to pay them :) Never know in today's economy but best of luck :)

I paid for mine up front to save a bit of money, $200 ( 5% off of $4000). My treatment plan was for 1 year and it ended up taking 3 years! I did not have to pay more for the additional time it took, but I wonder if I would have ended up paying more if I paid during treatment. This fee covered broken brackets and about 5 broken retainers. After so many broken retainers, they began to charge me.
In my case, paying up front worked for me, but I would advise you and others to be cautious about it. What if you are unhappy with the orthodontist? What if he closes is office? This has happened to people I know and they lost money because of it.
