Yes, Kipepeo, you're right! Great story from these two.

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
So how are you both doing in the pain and eating areas? I won't ask about your love live as that's none of our busin
ess.

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
We're both quite sore. Our cheeks are really cut up; I mean, do they intentionally sharpen the brackets beforevthey put them on?! Holy moly these babies cut you up somethin' fierce! He's in more pain than me because he has his lowers too, and also feels his teeth moving, which adds to his pain (though I wish I was feeling some of that too). Eating is a hassle now, everything is cut up and eaten carefully. On the upside it's curbed mindless eating that I have a tendency to do. Often things just aren't "worth it" to eat, considering the clean-up involved. So I'm hoping for the bonus side effect of some weight loss.
And haha, love life is good. I think he looks hot braced, and now I just am excited for the soreness to die down so we can have a good ol' fashioned high school style make-out session.

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
Hope your make out session will be amazing! You are so funny.
I've lost some weight since I got my braces. Not sure how much of it is because of my braces or because I've been walking 2 miles every morning with my dog since the middle of October. Doesn't really matter. I 'm happy with it either way. But I know what you mean about eating. I've lost a lot of the pleasure of eating. It just feels like such a hassle, you know?

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
Good for you on the weight loss, Dee! I bet it feels amazing!
Oh my goodness, yes I know, it (eating) is just a complete hassle now!! But it helps me to separate actual hunger from all of the other reasons I may eat. I briefly thought about (re) joining weight watchers this resolution-season, but then I figured I should see how this braces thing pans out in that respect. I told my honey that my new year's resolution is straightening my teeth. It'll be the first one ever I can't fail on!

Hi Ellabelle,
Yes, the weight loss has felt terrific. But I have a long way to go. I really want/need to lose about 50 lbs. So, I think it will probably take me about two years. The same amount of time I'll b wearing my braces. I wonder what I'm going to look like when all is said and done!?
Anyway, glad to know you've made a resolution that you can't fail on!
I know you meant that tongue in cheek but all joking aside it's very important that we make resolutions that we are able to keep. Yay for you! You and your sweetie have made a wonderful choice to get your smiles healthy. Good for you!

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
Sorry they're cutting up your cheeks
The initial uclers everywhere thing passes quite quickly, but I find I get random ulcers on and off (there's very few days when something somewhere isn't rubbing just one part of my cheek).
As for eating, I don't think it will ever be the same again (until they come off anyway) but you learn to just live with it....and I can honestly say I've noticed plenty of chocolate and ice cream slipping back in
I lost 3kgs initially but it's stabilized since then. I haven't put it back on (some days chewing is just too much of a chore). I'll be interested to see if I lose any more after my first adjustment. My Mum saw me yesterday for the first time since New Years and told me my face looked thinner.
I'm just worried that once they come off I'll be busy eating all food everywhere and put on more than I lost to begin with
Hope the pain dies down a bit for your both soon!

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces
So one week in, as the pain has begun to subside, I am feeling genuinely thrilled at this journey ahead of me. I feel all aglow inside knowing that this thing I've wanted for so long is finally underway. I am thankful to have a supportive partner on this trek with me and grateful for this wonderful family of fellow archwired adults. Thank you all for your support, and just for being here, and I wish everyone a beautiful night with unusually speedy, yet relatively painless, tooth movement. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
