3-4 times a day. I torture myself--waterpiking,flossing, proxabrushing, mouthwashing--actually all that is just at night. But ya, 3-4 times a day--and it is the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE *SS!!!

I've been doing all that too and had my 2nd adjustment yesterday afternoon. My ortho actually asked me what my cleaning routine was because my teeth were so clean! I guess it is worth it in the end.

I can't say I've really "eaten" since being braced, but after my smoothies/shakes I'll do it within 10 mins, but if I know I'm going to eat again or have a drink that's not water I'll wait until after..

I brush twice a day. When I wake up, and before I go to sleep. Of course I use listorine and ACT flouride also. I usually rinse with some biotene PBF once in between there somewhere. I also use a proxy brush after brushing normally. Floss at night.

The idea of brushing my teeth after every meal is nuts to me. Just floss everyday and brush with a powered sonicare type toothbrush and things will be A OK.

I will admit though, when I first had them on for about 2 or 3 months I brushed maybe 3 times a day. As time goes on, you just end up going back to normal as long as you brush and floss well, and use the right rinses.

Thanks! All these posts are making me feel a bit more relaxed. I normally brush 3 times a day anyhow so that won't change. It was all the flossing after every meal that was taking so much time. I now floss twice a day and my ortho told me last Monday I had very clean teeth.
