Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Thank you.
And i am impressed as well.
New people i meet can hardly believe that those were my teeth 6months ago.
They dont believe me when i show them pics...
I dont believe the changes as well.. I never expected this much results in this short space of time.
How are things with you Dee?
Is the pain letting up?
Did you talk to your ortho?

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Hi Nikki,
Yes, your teeth are really looking beautiful! I'm so happy for you. It's really hard to believe that those are even your teeth, you know? That's what a huge difference there is! Enjoy!
Yes, I did go in and have a talk with my orthodontist back in December. He suggested that I go see my family doctor for a muscle relaxant and he removed some of the molar buildups. It was the weirdest feeling because I could tell the difference immediately. Anyway, I went that Friday to my family doctor and she DID give me a prescription for some muscle relaxants but she said that she wanted me to discuss it further with my therapist and see if he would put me on something called an SSRI. As it turned out I actually had an appointment to see him the same day so I asked him about it. He said that he thinks I've had a lot of anxiety issues for a long time and so he gave me a prescription but he said that I could not take the muscle relaxant if I was going to take the SSRI. I'd have to make a choice and if I decided to take the SSRI, it would take between 5 and 6 weeks before I would probably see a difference. So, that's where I am right now. Waiting for the medication to kick in. In the meantime, I'm only waking up about twice a night with the clenching so there has been some improvement. I am going back to see my orthodontist on January 17th. At that time, they will be putting the rest of the brackets on (currently I don't have any brackets on any of my molars - upper or lower) and I expect that he will change the wire and give me a powerchain. So, I'm sure that in about a week's time I'll be having some serious pain issues. But, I'm prepared. I have a good stash of soft food in my freezer waiting to be thawed.
I'll bet you never thought you'd hear me say that I wanted a powerchain, did you? It's just that I haven't seen much movement or many changes in my gap and I'm anxious to get the process rolling. By the time January 17th rolls around i will have been in my braces for almost three months. I want things to start moving already!
Take care,
Dee

Lol. Nope I never thought i'd hear you say that....
But i understand where you are coming from.
Powerchains really do get things moving. I mean from the time they put them on and i walk to the washroom i SEE the difference...A small space in between two teeth that was not there 5mins ago....
Wishing you all the best....
And hope you dont have too much pain. and that the pills kick in sooner rather than later.
Chao.

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Hi Nikki,
Thanks for your message. Yes, I am really hoping this will happen when I go in for my appointment next week. It's really only about 6 days away.
I can hardly believe what you said that you can literally see a difference in 5 minutes. Really? I find this absolutely incredible. So, I really do think that this is the solution to get my stubborn teeth to start moving. I also hope I won't have too much pain from it but even if I do, I think it will be worth it.
Hope you're having lots of sun. It's not too bad here but we have a lot of snow and I just hate the snow. It makes walking my little dog very difficult. We had a bit of a January thaw earlier this week and some of it melted so that was good. Only what? Three more months until spring? I can hardly wait!

Your welcome.
Yes we are having sun....Its either sun or rain...Right now its supposedly the dry season (sun) but we are getting some showers still..

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Why thank you braced....that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said abut my teeth
I never thought about having a movie star smile...jus a straight un-bucked one.
The way my teeth were in the beginning anything remotely better would have satisfied me....
But that's still nice....
And btw great lookin smile you have too....it's nice seeing you pics on a monthly...I definitely see the changes.

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Hi Nikki,
Glad to know that things are progressing for you tickety- boo! I'm happy for you.
No, I haven't seen much progress on my end despite getting a new wire in the middle of January. I go back to see him on Feb 25th and if things haven't started to "show" visible results I'm going to ask him about that. I CAN tell that my teeth are moving, though because I can definitely feel a difference. Last night my bottom incisors were so sore I could barely eat dinner so I guess that means that something is happening. When I went to floss my teeth after dinner I also noticed that a new space has opened up between them. It looks dreadful but it's definitely new. As soon as I think I have any of interest to share, I'll post some pictures. Take care!

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
Nikki looking great. I love the teal, too. It reminds of the waters where you live (lucky, lucky you!). I can just barely see in your photos some creative ligating on your bottom canines. Do you have ligs going from hooks to the canines, or are those small power chains? Whatever they are, looks like they are meant for some serious gap closing!

Re: 1st Adjustment with pics
They are actually powerchains in weird configurations lolz.
They don't actually hurt though.
The one on the left (right in the pic) is to close the gap by bringing the premolar closer to the canine. The canine has a wire lig below the coloured one to keep it in place.
On the right (left in the pic) is the side with the weird config. I heard the dentist say something about rotating something off of the canine... I think its to move the premolar next to it out a little to widen he arch. ..but that's just a guess...idk
And both of them are connected to the little triangle hooks on my arch wire.
