Hi
Hi everyone, I am another newbie to braces. I got clear braces on my top teeth on 12 days ago to fix my front teeth which are butterfly! So far I have had the first few days of headaches. Then different teeth been sore on different days. The last few days have been fine apart from the back brackets are catching my mouth but wax is helping. My front teeth have already started to move :).. I am also waiting to receive an essix retainer for my bottom teeth which should be ready tomorrow. I have also suffered my first "Don't do again'... I had a curry and now my bands are stained. My dentist told me to come back to get them changed if I needed them changed but feel 12 days in is a bit much to be going be going back.
Re: Hi
Welcome to the board! Sorry about the curry stains
I've not been game enough to eat curry (although I can confirm that tomato soup/sauce etc doesn't stain smoke coloured ligs). Maybe try some whitening toothpaste and see if that helps with the staining a bit. If it makes you feel any better I went in only about a week into my treatment because I needed a wire snipped already that kept catching on my cheek. Maybe see how the toothpaste goes for a few days and then book yourself in if it's worrying you
Just tell your ortho lesson was learned

Re: Hi
Thanks for your reply.. will try the whitening tooth paste. I have to go back to the dentist one of the days so will see what they say, they might be nice and change them especially with Valentines day coming up :).. If not it's only 5 weeks till my first adjustment!!
Re: Hi
Congratulations and welcome to the board. Isn't it wonderful to see movement so soon? I have had the random sore tooth too but no real pain and not much rubbing.Blaise81 wrote:Hi everyone, I am another newbie to braces. I too love curry. In fact I l love curry so much that I eat it 2 or 3 times a week. I told my ortho that if my ligatures stained from curry, I'd consider it an "emergency" be back to get them changed. When she realized that this would be 2 or 3 times every week, she put metal ties instead so no staining - yeah!!!

Hi Ciara
Yes it is brilliant to see movement already. It is only the "social 6" (I think I seen someone call them them) that I have the brace on and I have to say my teeth weren't too bad to start but it was always something that annoyed me and now that i'm older my teeth are moving more and making the two front teeth stick out more and I have been grinding my teeth so one of my front teeth is longer than the other. (only a little bit, you wouldn't notice unless you looked at them really closely, which I seem to be doing alot since I started to think about getting braces!!)
I do feel like pulling the brace off at times, I feel my mouth is very dry and have to keep drinking water. In regards to the curry.. I don't know when the last time I had one and don't know why I had to eat one the other day but it's done now and can't do back...

Re: Hi
I wish I could take mine off some days too, just for 10 minutes to give my poor cheeks a break!
The dry feeling is horrible. I had it for about a week and a bit after getting mine. It was like my brackets felt chalky or something. It did pass though thankfully (I felt sick I drank so much water that week!). It still comes back occasionally if I eat yoghurt or an ice block but it otherwise gone.
