I only got 1. I went with the ortho we went with for my daughter. We got 2 opinions with her. I really like him and have all the confidence in the world he's doing all he can. My problem is partly that I don't have enough teeth in my head (a number of them decided just to not grow). This one was a pre-molar I think they're called (the first flatish grinding tooth). My vampire tooth is right next to my front tooth on that side because the one that was supposed to be there didn't grow so all that there is to move into the gap is a really big molar. He said if we moved it successfully it would look strange, but also put my bite out a lot and be really uncomfortable. Looking at that tooth in my before pictures he gave me and the x-ray I can see he's right.

I am just moving one tooth forward so hopefully it isnt too bad. Outside of just taking 2+ years to do. And my bite doesnt match up anyhow due to an open bite in the back. So any improvement helps.

Survived extraction okay. Two days later have taken a total of 2 ibuprofen. And all is good. Eating is already easier than it was with half a molar in with a hole down into the root of it.

Next up.. is one or two fillings.. and hope that the ortho doesnt change her mind.

Hey,
Glad to know you survived your extraction without any difficulty. I was quite surprised when I had my two extractions over the summer how easy they were. I had been very afraid I would have massive amounts of pain and that simply as not the case. Good for you!

Slowly making progress.

Background in a nutshell: Had molar extracted, and seeking orthodontic work to close the gap. After a few consults, found one I really like that says it could be done after initial consult. Also getting two boys done at the same time, as I get more of a discount that way.

Current: After waiting for the financial arrangements to be completed (aka a Loan), and numerous fillings, and one records apt cancelled by my wife, we finally have a records apt scheduled for all three of us on Monday.

Current paranoia: The conversation went something like this. After the records apt, we can get kid A in for his braces application a week after spacers for his braces, we can get kid B in the following week also, but we need to review the results of your records apt before scheduling you in.

If all of a sudden they say they can’t fix me, I will probably go ballistic. As it means I have to have them yank the spacers out of both boys, and completely start over finding a new ortho that can do all three.

I basically have to use the additional family discount provided by having two other family members done to afford my own treatment.

We'll see what I hear after monday.. (Records for all three)

Good luck with that. Yikes, that would be very disappointing if they change their minds and say they can't do your teeth. I guess you really would have to start all over again from the beginning if you need that family discount in order to have your treatment completed. Orthodontics is SO expensive. I am paying $6,500 (Canadian) for mine. Believe me when I say I'd much rather have that money in my bank account! Let us know what happens!

I emailed them back. They just said they need to review records to discuss what additional appliances would be needed before scheduling my extact treatment. Which now has me completely intrigued as nothing else has been discussed.

I have a five min call with the ortho today.

Thanks

All is good. They just hadn't forwarded to the info to the ortho that I wanted the Full Meal Deal vs just the top arch.

Time to be both nervous and excited again. Even though I know whats going on.

Dates are set next Mon for Records, Tuesday the following week for banding. Will switch to a blog once I have the apt on monday.

Have done it before, so not scared, just the usual nervous and anxious to get going. Just can't believe that I am doing this to myself again. Heck was only 10 years ago when I completed my last treatment. It's going to be a long two years.

Finally spacers tomorrow. They never really bothered me before. But its kinda like the first big step of this braced thing being real (again). As opposed to just talking about it.

I just had a solid jolt of reality when I saw my own ticker and realized its only eight days.

Starting to seem so real now.
