I just found your story. Your teeth are nicely shaped, you will have a great final result!
As for your torture wire, I have one similiar, it covers a gap (between a molar and a wisdom) from a long-ago extracted tooth. Your ortho can put rubber tubing over the wire, it prevents the wire from rubbing into the inside of your mouth.
For the longest time I didn't have the rubber tubing and I now have a little pocket of skin or cheek (not sure what it is called) that sticks out from the inside of my cheek. It doesn't sound pretty and it can be irritating at times. But in my case, the easiest way to describe it is, that the inside skin seems to want to suck its way into the gap. It can be removed easily after the braces are off. For the time being, until your gap closes, you may want to ask the ortho for the tubing. It really makes a difference!
Oh great! I'll be visiting my ortho tomorrow anyway because a wire has fallen out of my molar band :/ I'd say its because I can only eat on that side. I'll ask him about the rubber tubing, yay!
Thanks Klobird! Once this dry socket pain goes I'll be happy again, haha.
WOW! Our stories and our smiles match! I had criss-crossed wiring on my front teeth to start out, and huge wires eventually pulling my canines down, and even that *tubing* over a ton of wires where there had been gaps from extractions! A really great tip: DO NOT eat ANY curry or Indian food while you have the transparent tubing. I had it on the wire leading up to my high canine, right out front where everyone could see- and I had to wear it all curry-stained and yellow for like a whole month- and my aqua rubber bands had turned pea-green! Hahahahahaha!!! Oh I miss my braces sometimes! So many good stories!
Not much difference in the uppers...he (ortho) hasn't really started closing the gaps yet but I think he will soon. Concentrating on the lowers for now...and they have moved quite a bit! Was talking to him about my bite yesterday and he said it will take quite some time...boo But he said I am progressing much faster than scheduled...yay!
Book an appt to get my teeth cleaned in a few weeks...so that will be nice! €75 though...mad.
Lia, your teeth look incredible You must be so thrilled. I have only just started my journey and having had one extraction my ortho informed me that he will be working on straightening out my teeth before he starts to close the gaps so I guess that's the norm.
Had an adjustment today and he said on my next visit I'll be getting elastics. NOT looking forward to them! I'll need them until the end of my treatment too. Wahh. Oh well...gotta be done I guess!
Been just over a year now since I got my braces! I have had elastics now for about 2 months. There were PAINFUL at the start. Okay now though, just annoying. Must wear them all the time, even when eating :/ Hope they are working! Got upper and lower powerchains last week to close the gaps. And I'm not getting my wires changed again..woot! I was supposed to have them on for another year but he said the uppers could be coming off some time early/mid next year Sure we'll see!
Also one of my fillings fell out a few weeks ago :/ That was sore!

Bite! Getting a bit better...
SMILE!
That gap is pretty much closed...there was a tooth extracted from there!!
Your teeth are looking fantastic. Good to hear your top brace is close to coming off. Will you have your bottom brace on for longer?

Your teeth are beautiful!! Things have been moving quickly for you it seems!! I hope I get that lucky! Can't wait to see your final result! Any idea how much longer you have?
Well, my upper gaps are closed! And my right low gap is closed. I think the left lower gap will be closed by the end of this month...if not sooner I had an adjustment last week and he put is realllly tight powerchain on...still can barely eat. But it's working!
I think they will be coming off either at my next appointment or the one after that
