1st adjustment - done. 9 weeks until the next! (PHOTOS)

#1 Post by Timetoshine »

Just had my first adjustment after 6 weeks of having upper and lower 8 teeth braced (and 4 extractions - molar bands come in a few months)...

Not sore at all! I was clenching my hands just in case the pain arrived, but thanks to this forum I took 2 ibuprofen half an hour before my appt
Teeth are tender if I touch top and bottom teeth together, but then again, I haven't used those teeth for the last 6 weeks - just continue to cut food up small and chew on back molars. Will be interesting to see how I can eat once my molars are banded.

Had my 0.14 wires changed for 0.16 wires. Upper and lower, as I am overseas for 9 weeks and therefore have a long wait until my next appt. Left with a stash of wax and silicone to hopefully last me. He has left plenty of wire room at the end for them to move.

I have a silly annoying snaggletooth that is sloping back into my mouth on my bottom arch and isn't wired into the whole thing yet. He changed the spring to a larger one so he can wire the tooth in next visit. Til then I'm left with it bracketed, but not attached to anything and looking hideous - only 9 weeks though until it will find out where its meant to be!

Here's a pic from Day 1 (bottom image), and 6 weeks later (top image) taken just before 1st adjustment. I can see some changes, just wish I could see MORE... ahhh I need to learn some patience!!

Thanks to you all - lovely comments.

Today my partner said - "wow check out your front teeth' as I hadn't really looked for a few days (unlike the first week when he told me to stop looking at them every 5 mins haha). When I looked I saw that my front teeth were less crossed over. And I almost cried - I can't remember the last time my front teeth looked like that! It is truly amazing!
