oh we noticed, Daniel, we noticed! Well was the assistant cheering for you and shouting words of encouragement? That's how others would notice.

When I got mine I was worried they would make me put them on myself while I was there, but they didn't. My daughter's ortho (different from mine) also didn't make her practice. But they did put black ligs on the 3 teeth she was to hook them to so she would know. I thought that was neat.

I was wondering if this dental guard I bought will help stop me clenching while I am asleep. Braces have made me clench my teeth all the time. When I am awake I can stop it. But it wakes me up during the night.

I have issues with bruxing too. My orthodontist has had me wearing nighttime elastics since early in my treatment to help. While I still have had some issues as my teeth shift, it has really helped me.

Well, it was a different kind of embarrasing, but I had problems with my elastics at first too. They didn't put them on me when I was in the office. They didn't even have me try to do it myself. I just got a nice picture with drawings for what I was supposed to do. I tried for most of a week trying to put them on. At least 40 minutes each attempt. I got soooo frustrated that I couldn't do it. I totally felt the elastics had me beat. Finally, I called and made an appointment to go back to the ortho's office. Turned out that I had a couple hooks bent back into the teeth (molars) which made it physically impossible to put the elastics on. Making that call to the orthodontist telling them that I couldn't put elastics on at age 40 was such an embarrassment though.

Thank you again :) And yep, she's just lovely! I miss her almost as much as I miss my kitty!

Awesome! I'll take 2 ;) Even the one who gives out black eyes! (He sounds like a playful little monkey!) And 4! Holy crow! Do you ever have time out from poop scooping litter?!?! :P I used to feel like I spent all day doing that with 2 of them!

I am so happy I have joined this forum...it feels like a community. And for my best news today....I have a DATE for my braces....Aug 6th at 8:00 AM!!!
Thank you :) Yeah, I'm a huge kitty lover (always have been). Other than the first month we lived together my husband and I have never not had a kitty (we got both of them within 3 months of each other). They really are a part of the family. They were my firstborns. The fact that they were furry didn't count ;)

And yay for a brace date!! It's a blessing and a curse having one. A blessing that you have one and a curse because suddenly time starts crawling at snails pace!

Yeah, she's amazing. I don't think she does it for everybody ;)

Today I'm thinking I'm really annoyed. Annoyed at parents (long story), annoyed at the post office (the lady who delivers parcels here KNOWS no one is home until 11. We get a couple a week and no one is ever here, I've told her SO many times) so we always end up having to pick them up after 4:30pm and it's always a Friday so every man and his kids and his dog and his extended family are there also trying to pick stuff up and drop stuff off before they close at 5pm for the entire weekend-grr! I'm annoyed that I had to have a blood test and last but not least I am feeling annoyed at my braces today.

Whoops, I think I just turned this into the rant and rave thread-sorry!

Ah yes the cheering!

Sometimes my brillance scares me. Not.
I practiced when I got home last night a little, and felt pretty good about the whole thing. As a nurse I have had to learn some fairly tricky manuvers and procedures, so this was just one more thing to master. This morning I get up feeling very chipper and rested, and when I got to the part of my pre-flight routine that involves dental, removed the old elastics, brushed, and then went to reapply the elastics. After about 3 attempts on the "easy" side, each ending up with an elastic that had twisted up in surrender after flying around my mouth, I realized I was trying to apply it to a bracket without the hook. Even I had to smile at that one. "Well done, grasshopper."
Then I got to work and was sitting at my desk eating raspberries, having forgotten about the elastics. I opened up to shovel in a spoonful and felt a bit of a "pop" as the bracker debonded. No big deal in terms of wires sticking me or anything. Return next week for reapplication.

When I was wearing elastics I got really good at eating nearly anything with them in. The only foods I couldn't eat were larger bites like steak, breads with crust...anything where I needed the space outside my arches to maneuver food around.

I'm thinking that this RPE device thing better work the way it's supposed too if I have to have it in my mouth for months...
